Do, who the fuck's idea was it to launch this game at 59.99? Who the fuck thinks this is a good idea? I don't care how much this game cost to make, PC games are 49.99. It's just a rule that Activation seems hell bent on changing.
Because you'll fucking buy it.
It's like popcorn and drinks at the movie theatre. Sure, it costs $40 for a small popcorn and soda... but there's no fucking way you're going into that movie without it.
It sucks. I hate it. But they know what they're doing.
Fuck that. I sneak my own food into the Theater. Last time I went to a normal AMC theater I managed to get in 2 boxes of candy, a family sized bag of popcorn and 2 20oz pops. Total cost to me was about 8 bucks. For that same reason, I think I am going to pass for a while on this game. I have been on the fence about buying it for some time now, but the price point has pushed me towards waiting a while.

Well you have fun with that. The rest of us who don't freak out over 10 bucks will be enjoying StarCraft II.
According to the Starcraft II Facebook page, Southeast Asia is now live for their servers. Which mean the Koreans are getting a headstart. That can't be good. :?
A headstart on what? It isnt an MMO where getting in early lets you out-pace the lvling of the masses and stay in empty lagfree zones.
Oh...I guess they're finding out the story sooner. If Phantom Menace taught us anything...it's to never expect a good story from a sequel coming so long after the original. Just prettier graphics.

yeah fuck paying ten dollars! this game isn't worth 60 bucks
wait
I don't normally buy any games at full price, but this is a game that I still haven't decided on. I mean, it's $60, and I normally wait until games are $30-40 before buying them. It just means that if I don't get it at full price, I'll be waiting even longer for it to be reduced to $30-$40.
I have a feeling I'll be able to hold out on buying it for a month or two, I'll break down and get it at $60, and then someone will do a sale for something like $40 the next day.

Well, at least Starcraft 2 doesn't have George Lucas at the helm, so it has a fair chance of actually having a good story.

Companies reduce the price of games to account for slagging sales... Blizzard games don't have slagging sales...
also i find it amusing how someone can think that pc games have to be 49.99
just because it's been happening for a while doesn't mean it's set in stone
True. After all, PC games used to have demos and reviews before launch, and that isn't happening here this time...
This game had like a year of beta testing and reviews before release of a game whose online component is this huge would be seriously lacking.

StarCraft II won't go down in price until it has a battle chest (meaning the second game is released).
Where the hell did all these cheap skates come from? And why do they feel the need to post us and tell us they won't be buying the game because it costs too much?
Bestbuy canada seems to really be on the ball for this launch, mine shipped on friday and is out for delivery right now with free shipping..usually they ship new releases a week or so after the launch date

Blizzard are one of the few companies that I trust enough to buy a game from without a review or a demo. Hell, when I think about it I probably have every game they've ever released.

Technically it's a Silicon & Synapse game though, but so are Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, and R&R Racing. WarCraft: Orcs & Humans was the first one under the Blizzard Entertainment label. That list is misleading though because I believe a good handful of those are ports that S&S handled.
Edit: Well on second thought, JL:TF was in 1995, it may actually be under the Blizzard label afterall..

I'm not really counting the Silicon & Synapse stuff, as to me that was all pre-"Blizzard as we know it today".

When I want a better car, house or dishwasher I pay more for it. Why should this not be the case for a videogame?
I am going to buy this on the promise of enjoying the singleplayer but i secretly hope I can somehow get good at the multiplayer eventually (at least good enough to enjoy the game)

The way the leagues are setup, this should not be an issue. You're going to be placed in a league based on your skill. Once the leagues even out, you really should only be playing against players of a similar skill level.
90% done installing. For once it doesn't suck to live in Australia (as it relates to games)!
I'm pretty sure saying that out loud delayed the next big title being released in Australia by 3 months. Well, at least you'll have starcraft while you wait.
I wonder how many are like me? I've never played one second of Starcraft yet I'll be buying this tomorrow.
I hope the matchmaking is really as good as I'm hearing. I won't even go near it until I finish the campaign.
Even before placement matches, you can do training 1v1s. There is destructible rocks in front of both bases giving you time to get familiar with buildings. If your opponent is terran, though, expect reapers... and if they aren't terran, expect mass air.

Just so you know, they've made a big deal out of the fact that the campaign won't really prepare you for multi at all. The development processes diverged something like a year ago; there are tons of units in the singleplayer that aren't in multi, and some of the stats are different for those which are in both.

That's what I always found to be bullshit about the "novice" maps. Yeah, they are to help novices, unless the other guy is Terran and then he just Reaper rushes you.

Back when I joined the beta I don't think anyone reaper rushed me, probably cause I started near the end so the people using that mode were genuinely new. The "normal" speed was throwing me off, though.

Never seemed to stop anyone - I think the novice maps are a terrible idea - I kind of get what they were going for, but there are too many units that can get around them.

Or protoss and masses voidrays... or zerg and masses bro lords/mutas... But yes terran do get the reaper unit quite early..

At least those are tier 2 though. Reapers are ridiculously early for a unit that can completely ignore those rocks.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter, since the novice maps are not "normal gameplay", but it does make them terribly unbalanced and defeats the whole idea behind having them.
To be honest, they annoy me more than anything else since you can't scout. I mean, I suck at multiplayer and even I realize how important scouting is...
While the single player campaign will not prepare you at all for the multiplayer, Blizzard has said that they are including "challenge maps", which will translate well into skills needed for multiplayer. Things like, quickly choosing appropriate counter-units, or conducting an entire game using only hotkeys to build things. I'm pretty excited about that.

Because all prices are supposed to be static and costs NEVER go up over time!
... wait, what?
Something costs 10 bucks more in 2010 than it did 20 years prior? I can deal with that.

You seriously need a demo and a review for StarCraft II? Seriously?
Wow...
For that matter, there is about a million sources of information from the beta, if you really need to know.
Do you have Justice League: Task Force?
That's a Blizzard game? If so, then no, I am missing that one as well.
