He's looking to buy the digital version of the game, when you do so, do you have to differentiate between the PC and Mac version? Obviously for the purposes of the download, you'd have to pick one or the other.
He has both a Mac and a PC and he wants the option to play it on both machines, can he do that with just one copy of the game 'registered' to his battle.net account or would he need to own both a Mac and PC version of the game?

You just need to buy it once, you can download it as many times as you need with either type of client from the Battle.net account management site.

I think if you buy it from the blizzard store you can just choose which client you want at the point of download (and can pick the other client on the other machine). But they have been monkeying around with the battle.net site a lot and olol Activition of course, so i dunno.
This morning I had a dream that I was at work and going to pick up my copy during lunch, but the entire freeway system was completely jammed with cars of other people heading to pick up the game. Starcaft 2 shut down the entire San Diego freeway system. Then I figure I'll take the trolley, but some rocks had fallen on the tracks somehow. I guess it was the novice trolley. Then I remembered I could fly, but when I got to the store they only had collector's editions of warcraft 1.

Also you should get a digital copy free when you buy a boxed copy. Battle.net lets you get digital versions of all games you register on your b.net account (except WarCraft II: BNE because Blizzard is mean).
Do, who the fuck's idea was it to launch this game at 59.99? Who the fuck thinks this is a good idea? I don't care how much this game cost to make, PC games are 49.99. It's just a rule that Activation seems hell bent on changing.
Because you'll fucking buy it.
It's like popcorn and drinks at the movie theatre. Sure, it costs $40 for a small popcorn and soda... but there's no fucking way you're going into that movie without it.
It sucks. I hate it. But they know what they're doing.
Fuck that. I sneak my own food into the Theater. Last time I went to a normal AMC theater I managed to get in 2 boxes of candy, a family sized bag of popcorn and 2 20oz pops. Total cost to me was about 8 bucks. For that same reason, I think I am going to pass for a while on this game. I have been on the fence about buying it for some time now, but the price point has pushed me towards waiting a while.
I know this is silly of me but, if nobody bought concessions movie tickets would be like 3 times as expensive
I would totally buy a Collector's Edition of WarCraft 1....
But I already have the concept artbook!
Lulzmiriteguyz?
Ahem.
My initial plan was to pick it up after work. Now I'm considering going to the local mall at lunch. Sure the gamestopthere never has pc games when I call without a preorder, but surely for starcraft 2 they will have some right?
Or maybe Sam Goody will have it. Or 7-11. Or something.

Even at that price the game is hell of a lot cheaper than any movie you go to even if you sneak in food. Even if I only played the single player and finished it in 20 hours that is only 3 bucks I paid per hour of entertainment. And after that I can still play it again if I want to.

Never rely on GameStop to have stock without a preorder. They are retarded that way. Go to Best Buy or Walmart or any other store if you want guarenteed copies.

That's what always ends up happening, target or best buy on the way home. But if I could get it during lunch that would save me a whole 20 minutes after work that could be instead spent playing.
I would really like to be sieging some tanks right now
harassing with helions
beating someone with banshees
massing marauders, marines, and medivacs
I don't know if I'm gonna make it.
You can still play the computer
or the unit tester.
it's not the same
I'd have to download something right? I can't use anything built in?
Any map you can load in galaxy edit can by played.
Wait? So is there a way for me to play Starcraft 2 today, in some form? Like to just play with some units and get boners? If so, how do I do this? How? For the love of god, how?

You can always try, I just know GameStop is absolutely stupid about actually stocking new games if you didn't preorder, then pretending like you can't just walk across the street and buy it anywhere else easily. I guarentee everyone else will have a million copies though. With this game GameStop *might* actually stock it though, who knows...
Personally I'd avoid them completely if they were not the only damn store in town that took pre-orders for stuff like CEs or had swag with certain game pre-orders. (since for some games like this, I dislike waiting for online shipping)

Only if you had the beta, and it is still installed. If that is true, then go here and download this map. Once you've downloaded it, just drag it onto the sc2beta shortcut, and it will launch and load. You can then play an AI or just work on your build orders. I've been working on my PvT builds in particular over the weekend.
If you don't have the beta, you can't do this, unfortunately. It's very soon now, though.

On release day for wii Punch Out!, I walked into gamestop and they said they had no more than their pre-orders and that I would not be able to get a copy til their next shipment... and that places like best buy were already sold out, so I should reserve a copy of their next shipment.
I laughed at them, drove the 2 extra miles (which was the only reason I went to gamestop first) to best buy, and they had like 1000000000 copies. AND Best Buy had a free 10 dollar gift card with any purchase of Punch Out!
On the way home I couldnt resist being a dick and stopping by that gamestop to show them my 10 gift card and copy of the impossible to get game....

The only problem i have with Best buy is the same problem I used to have with gamestops - the people in charge of the video game section seem a bit fuzzy on what a video game is, so for titles that might actually be sold out its hard to get a comment on the phone.
Gamestop employees are required to lie their ass off to you, but at least most of the people they hire these days actually play the damn things.

See, yeah this is the shit they pull. And for Punch Out!? lol... The fact that it's Nintendo published alone tells you there will be ridiculous stock.

I did this when I bought Borderlands. Gamestop said it was sold everywhere. I walked literally across the street to an indie CD/movies/games store and bought a copy. Couldn't resist gloating.
So if you get this digitally, will it unlock at midnight tonight?
Or should I go pick up the copy I forgot I preordered?
10AM PST the digital opens.

recruited a friend to come with my at midnight. he also realized that while his mac won't run the game, his dad has a computer in the house that no one uses that should run it. very good news! now I have to try not to scare him away with overexcitement and excessive talk of casts and streams and day9.
I wonder how many are like me? I've never played one second of Starcraft yet I'll be buying this tomorrow.
I hope the matchmaking is really as good as I'm hearing. I won't even go near it until I finish the campaign.
Even before placement matches, you can do training 1v1s. There is destructible rocks in front of both bases giving you time to get familiar with buildings. If your opponent is terran, though, expect reapers... and if they are Protoss, expect Mothership rush.
Sorry, couldn't resist. I am totally going to pull this someday.

You know, it occurs to me. StarCraft 2 can't be sold back to GameStop used. Thus, I think I'm going to err on the side of "they won't stock it well"

When I went to buy a PS3 the Gamestop near me was sold out. The manager laughed when I asked if he could check his system to see if another Gamestop had one, telling me that nobody in the state of MA would have one due to the shortage.
I went home, called around, and picked up a PS3 20 minutes later from a Gamestop 5 miles up the road. I went back to the original Gamestop to pick up a bluetooth headset and to thank the manager for his help.
