Yeah, this sounds really damn interesting. You can make your own tiles in Hammer, slap them together in the tile tool, and then generate a file for some final polishing in Hammer.
All the experienced Alien Swarm players will want to play the game on Hard or above. If you play on normal you will likely complete the missions on your first try and we all know that Alien Swarm isn't fun unless your entire squad is getting wiped out by parasites every other try.
Been waiting for this for quite some time. There had been hints on the official forums that a few of the guys got hired by valve, (some of the devs mentioned a NDA when topics on the game came up) but knowing that it's free sweetens the pot considerably.
Lookin forward to it. Never really got a chance to play the original with friends, so this should be fun, and full of massive amounts of friendly fire.
So how much hand did Valve really have in this? Did they just put the Alien Swarm team on payroll and let them make it themselves, or did they oversee or help in its development? Also, do we know if this is a real proper sequel or a remake?
People at Valve pretty much work on all the projects randomly. Monkeys, typewriters, that sort of thing. The aliens and general looks are totally different from 2 years ago.
If 4 year old info is to be trusted, the campaign takes place on the icy planet of Vereon 12. So a sequel.
The RPS article definitely gave off a L4D vibe (which I think should be expected since the team did have a hand in L4D) with the dropship coming to rescue them and so on.
I'm hoping for even more chaos than L4D since the player can see all 360 degrees around them it would be fair game to unleash aliens everywhere. :winky:

It was in the second trailer they released http://store.steampowered.com/video/630/5825 . So I'm downloading Ut2K4 over steam to try my hand at the original before this is released tomorrow. Hopefully some people are playing now that the new one is being released.
