They've been able to set pre-loads before. I can't believe they didn't think of pre-loading this. Goddamn.
All preloading would have done is killed the servers three days ago.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

I set to China, and now I'm updating Dawn of War 2 at 300kb/s?!?!

Think of it as letting a (BIG) tap run, rather than opening the goddamn floodgates on the exact day. I mean, look at it now!

My download just stopped and is reporting as "suspended", which is a status I have never, ever seen.
I've gotten that so many times. For me, it doesn't even seem to matter what download server I choose, I always top out at 200 kbps. Most of the time, I don't even get that much.
Normally I'd suspect it's my service throttling my bandwidth, but all speed tests I take show what I'm supposed to be getting.

I doubt you'd get everyone jumping in to begin preload at the same time though (and they could even stagger it by region without much furore), plus most preloads have several 'waves' rather than unleashing all the data at once. I'm still amazed that it wasn't this bad during the Steam sale, though.
Are they hosting locally and is the game already going? In these cases Steam only sees their local IP, which is completely useless for joining internet games. At least that's how it does with everything else.
So this game is pretty rad, from a quick runthrough of the offline mission. I am disappointed that there only seems to be one offline mission, though. Also, Normal difficulty seems way too easy, but again that could just be the nature of the one mission I played.

I think I read that people that played the UT mod may want to jump straight into Hard mode. This version might be watered down. :P

I played through the second time on Hard, and it seemed better. Ammo usage is the biggest difference, and it got pretty tricky at the end because pretty much everyone flat out ran dry a few rooms before the exit, so I had to just run/melee my way to the end.

With all the stuff that's going in the release, I expect to see rad single player and multiplayer campaigns out from the community pretty soon. So I'm not going to sweat only one single player mission in the release.
I love how Steam's downloading at a whopping 62 KB/s no matter where I go, yet still cripples my connection so that doing anything else online takes forever.
Thanks, horribly shitty wireless connection.

Pretty sure I'm just going to give up on this until the servers open up a bit. Having to download this from some server in a random Chinese province at 40 kbps ain't doin it fer me

You'd think so, but nope. This happens every time.
Hurry up and finish downloading you people!

It shows it in the achievement picture. Not very detailed but you get the general idea.

I have 38 steam friends.
The store page says 37 of them own it. I'd say thats bigger than most releases.

I need to find a way to relocate this off my main drive. Bleh. I need to upgrade to one of those 15krpm drives now.
My list of people that own it include people that haven't been online in a week.

HOLY FUCKSHITTING DICKNIPPLES THIS GAME IS AMAZING.
Trying to find a microphone so I can play it online without being Silent Steve.

Pause it and then restart it.
It just goes back to suspended. They didn't open enough tubes and hire enough trucks to travel through said tubes.
I guess I'll go play one of my new games that I actually paid for.
EDIT - As soon as I mocked Steam, my connection shot up to full on the Hungary servers.
