I think I had a Valve employee or something in my first group. I join, I'm level 1 as I've never played it before, as well as another person who was level 1. Then we had a level 2. Then we had a level 6. >.> In a half hour of gameplay, I made level 2. I don't know how this person was playing before it was released, but I didn't mind.

Meh, it controls a lot like Geometry Wars/Beat Hazard with a KBAM, it fit like a glove for me.
The only thing I'm unsure of is if there's any meaning to the cursor over your sight other than just a general idea of where you're aiming or if there's some bonus to hit with it.
I might try this out once the servers stop drooling on themselves, if you guys don't mind a mic-less partner. I can be the archetypal silent but violent soldier if you think that will make it easier to bear.
I'm pretty sure that this game has reduced Steam's servers to tears. I hope it's worth it!
It's bad yes, but honestly I got it to connect and download far quicker than anything I bought during the sale a few weeks ago. If the servers stayed up for that, it can handle this.
Every time I try to create a server (or a friend does), the server's address is my private (e.g. behind-the-router) IP address, and we can't join each others' servers. No apparent way to change that, that I know of.

I think I'm about to get in this.
Edit: When the servers aren't too busy. DO we have a chat group or something to start games?
This is an awesome game, I just played it a friends place. Everyone online was noobing it out on normal, but we found one game going on hard. In the mission, all the other 3 people died and my friend was the only one to get to that first elevator, shit got intense. Luckily he had a sentry with him so he made it all the way to the bottom. Only problem was he ran out of ammo and got mauled right off the elevator.
We played through that mission the next try without problems though. The one after that was a lot harder. Things definitely scale up as the campaign progresses. Also, Wildcat is awesome, you can run and just never stop shooting.
Do they still have those Go and Stop commands for the AI players? Can you still play up to 8 players?
Is every player really a different color like in the trailer? One thing I liked about the original was most people were bog-standard white, but Wildcat, she's gotta have her armor in red. That and stuff like Sarge being able to equip a useless cigar gave the game personality. (I may also be remembering stuff wrong)
Clipping along at anywhere from 40kbps up to 180kbps. So I'll be joining you guys anywhere from 2 to 6 hours from now, as long as the server holds out.

I don't want to talk about the pausing and restarting.
Stupid thing is showing their private IP address in the server info (e.g. 192.168.x.x:27015).
lololol suspended from Italy
A little mood music for those of us who are still waiting.
This.
Also you don't earn any xp or anything solo so there's not a lot of incentive to play it between that and the impossibly dumb AI.
Like L4D though it's clearly not meant to played solo anyway though.
Also the game pretty much is a top-down l4d with aliens.
That's absolutely not a complaint.

Yeah I went in expecting terrible controls (as I am not used to top-down shooters), but this feels really good.
