Also, that deadpool script excerpt is incredible, and better than anything Way wrote in the year and a half I read his book.

This script is very much influenced by the Joe Kelly comics. Weasel, Blind Al, the Hell House, and the main villain is
    Ajax
    .

My body is thick with fear, fear that this is just some horrific ploy to get my hopes up waaaaaay too high. Blind Al, fuck yes. Ajax, fuck yes. If "Deadpool: The Movie" turns out any different to how that article describes it, i blame you Furu. Only you.

So, Young Justice has the original Teen Titans? Well, most of them. No one really cares about Aqualad.

Why not just call the show Teen Titans? I want Bart and Tim and Con-El and Cassie. And Secret. Remember Secret? She was awesome. Arrowette was awesome too. And Empress. Red Tornado was great as a mentor figure. Snapper Carr was slightly annoying but made up for it with the Rick Jones references.

Because there was already a Teen Titans show

Also this was originally called Young Justice League because it's not like the TT show that ignored the rest of the DCU. It's an adaptation of the DCU with a focus on the younger characters

Also, pretty much everyone you've said (except for the legacies like Bart and Tim and Cassie) are either announced as showing up or will probably show up

I like those three the most, though. :(

Anyway, I watched the latest No Ordinary Family. It's okay. Nothing special and a little repetitive, but I'll keep watching so long as I get to fast-forward all the boring bits. Or just to make the plot move faster.

There was this scene during the first wedding where the bride came over to talk. Stephanie (the mother) gave her a hug and Jim (the father) put his hand on her arm. While Stephanie let go after a second, Jim kept his hand there for half a minute. It was weird and a little creepy, like he was frozen in that position. They talked about a bunch of stuff. At one point, Jim even turned around to chastise his daughter, all the while keeping his hand glued to that nice lady.

Everyone acted like this was perfectly normal, but she had to physically move away before he let go. She used to be his babysitter!

I noticed with No Ordinary Family that the story kind of just comes to a halt when you deal with the kids, primarily the daughter and her mind reading powers. They're got to find a way to fix that because it really brings the whole thing down.

Granted I was trailing in and out with the show on in the background, but it wasn't as impressive as the first two episodes.

That seems to be the natural reaction to this episode. Either fast-forward or find something more interesting to hold your attention. It's a sign of bad writing.

[EDIT] Or directing, for that matter.

This is the thing from Warren Ellis, right?

It's not that bad, actually; once you get over the initial shock. It's just different. Apparently the Japanese believe every bad boy archetype in American literature can be replaced by the generic "delinquent" look. Hence the young, smooth-shaven punk instead of a hairy Canadian. I still like it better than Greg Land's collage of statues.

And it's written by Ellis, so you know that the characters won't suddenly start-

You know, I tried thinking of anime tropes to finish that sentence - like "suddenly start transforming" or "suddenly be in highschool" or "suddenly turn into ninjas" - but all those things have happened in the X-books.

I actually want to see RED, and don't think it will flop. Speaking with my parents this weekend they are wanting to see it as well, and it seems to be reaching those older people who still want to show that they can beat younger generations at stuff.

I just finished watching both seasons of the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

At first I brushed it off, not liking the simplistic look for Peter and other characters, and being an overall Ultimate Spidey snob. But midway through, I got into it. The level of continuity reminded me of Weisman's work on Gargoyles, and I enjoyed how the characters steadily evolved from their first appearances (even Flash).

Also, the battles were really well done, but the Venom battles were just brutal. I found Eddie's motivation to become Venom a bit forced, as the circumstances in the cartoon didn't really justify his 180 from older brother to stalker psychopath, but the end result was terrific stuff.

So yeah, count me as part of the group saddened that the show got its plug pulled. Also, I'll be wondering for a long while if Weisman would have ever gotten approval to kill off Captain Stacy (and eventually Gwen). His statement about how Young Justice would feature major deaths has me curious about this.

I think any attempt at a Hulk TV show will be kind of crummy, just because they'll never have the budget to do it right.

Which means they can go one of two routes: Bruce Banner travels the country, occasionally gets into scrapes where he gains superstrength while his eyes turn green, and then the camera cuts away/obscures him as he turns into the Hulk and smashes dudes. Basically, Hulk would be the smoke monster from Lost. You never really get a good look at him, just an implication of what he is.

    or

They just straight up paint a dude green, again. Which I have to think modern TV watchers would find hokey and reject, just because of how accustomed they've become to modern special effects. That said, muscular guys are a lot bigger and scarier than Lou Ferigno nowadays, so maybe it could work.

That first approach doesn't sound too bad, actually. It'd be a different take on the mythos, but making full transformations rare and devastating would amp up the tension. Also, it'd make the sense of dread Banner develops whenever he gets angry a bit more powerful.

I mean, let's face it. Nobody really understand why Banner is afraid to turn into the Hulk, as the Hulk generally only manifests when his life is in danger and rarely, if ever, hurts anyone who doesn't deserve it. If there's an element of risk involved with every transformation, though, then suddenly Banner can genuinely feel conflicted between saving his own skin and keeping the people around him safe.

the problem with the first route, though, munch is

everyone knows what the Hulk looks like

Not in the show world, but in the viewing audience.

Compound this with the fact that people are dumb and you'll have people getting really pissed really quick that the Hulk show doesn't feature any Hulks

An audience full of Ian Malcolms

    My idea:

Aliens put lots of dangerous stuff on different places around the world.
Hulk then travels around and smashes the dangerous stuff.

My idea: Bruce Banner is the Hulk, who gets sent into space on a rocket for being too dangerous. I think you know where this is going.

Planet Hulk was the most advacement Banner and the Hulk had as characters for a long, long time, and people already know about the Hulk at his deal. They should just chuck him into space, would be awesome crazy sci-fi action with all the aliens from the book, and it would be great from a good writer and CGI team who made it look cool and not totally hokey and shit.

That is the core element to the story.

It will be worthwhile only if we get an episode where Hulk smashes puny paperwork.

Cloak & Dagger on ABC Family just sounds like it will be preachy.
