Guys me and PolaGo will be in Seattle sometime in March for the MSDN conference. He'll be gone most of the day doing important conference things...who wants to do other things with me?

Shit, how the fuck would I know what otter tastes like? What kind of horrible otter eater are you Indigo?!
...a cute one?
Doc is freakin huuuuge--in the tall way. HUUUGE! But very nice. I didn't meet a person there I didn't like. Khoo was pretty awesome. We got to talk about the wii remote, and then about Arrested Development. Good times, good times.
I didn't talk to Khoo there. But I did meet him at the pre-PAX SE++ dinner. I don't know why, but I felt a little starstruck around him.
Which is silly, since I'm a full-grown adult, and I didn't feel that way the few times that I met Gabe and Tycho.
I was just chillin against the fridge.
Then his phone rang.
The ringtone was the MGS Incoming Transmission tone.
It was pretty rad.
I always feel weird talking to forum people for the first time, cause it's like "Do I introduce myself as Smart Hero or Dan or SH or what cause some people are like 'Man thats stupid to go by your forum handle'"
FloPAX i was pretty shy for the most part, till we got stranded in the rain with nothing to do. I ran out into the rain to track down a pack of playing cards.
Yeah, I have the same problem with the handle. Whippy and Arithena were the first forumers I met, and I think in the small amount of time I spent around them, I kept it to a general "you." Calling someone by an internet handle seems a little...uhhhh...weird.
On the other hand, I'm sure I'm not the only one with a handle that is also a real-life nickname.
I've been thinking of getting my name changed for a while but I don't know what to, since I don't really have any nicknames beyond my last name. And I don't want that being all over the forums. Maybe just shorten it to SH...
For the two years I lived in the dorms at college I never heard my real name. The first day my freshman year there was a dorm meeting and we had to introduce ourselves, and so I introduce myself as Jeff, because my real name is Jeffrey but I've always gone by just Jeff. Well immediately someone I went to high school with (there were 3 other people from my graduating class who ended up at the same college as I, totaling 2 boys 2 girls) screams out my nickname from across the room and from then on that's all anyone called me.
It got to the point where someone could yell after me "JEFF..... JEFF" and I wouldn't even notice. I had friends I'd known for over a year and they wouldn't know my actual first name.
I don't know whether I liked it or disliked the whole thing. I never gave it much thought. In retrospect it was quite easy to adapt to a new name after 18 years.
edit: btw my nickname isn't rockmonkey. Just thought I'd clear that up.

ITT Draco_Auric shows us that he bears a frightening resemblance to John Mark Karr.
I've also been told that I resemble Daniel Johns (admittedly by drunken aussies). If I average the two out I can continue to feel comfortable about myself.
You are no Daniel Johns

People usually call me by my forum handle when I meet internet people
I don't meet people from the internet, but this is the nickname my friends use for me. See my last name is Rooney. The Sir was added a few years after the nickname took hold. It was kind of weird when my best friends started calling me sir, but I'm ok with it.
I don't expect people that don't know me well to add the sir though, that'd be rude.

That really creeped me out for some reason
...would it taste like otter? Because then I might partake.

Also I talked to Khoo. He's neat. I told him about not being able to shower for three weeks, but not in those words.

But you asked me to
which means i didn't know what her real name was until after i had sex with her and we were talking post-coitus and i asked.
awkward, that.
In the meantime they are expensive and I don't really need to drive.
Tell me, were you?

not entirely!
she was, though.
Driving is wonderful, and you don't realise the freedom you didn't have until you have your licence.
I'd love to be able to drive to my parents', or go out for walks at the weekend in the Peaks. I already feel like I'm missing out on a lot.
But running and maintaining a car is out of my budget.
hard to explain when you turn up at home after the weekend
wait does that make her the rapist
if so okay
But the awkwardness is ^3 when you are both sober. Then there's just no excuse for it.

it's happened to me and i didn't even bother to ask
sometimes it doesn't matter
shit the only reason i asked was because the more i talked to her the more i actually wanted to know her as a person and not just a hot lay

when you're very passionate
or you both know this is just a sportfuck
sometimes you don't even want to give your name
might complicate shit.
I'm 27, but young at heart.
