Plus, the last few issues of Red Robin were about him becoming a master tactician and operating on a global scale, which meshes really well with Checkmate.
A while ago I asked you all about why Superman doesn't help out during No Man's Land and you mentioned two batman comics that cover that. I have to say I far preferred the second one. The story telling was far more convincing and I like the broments that Batman and Supes shared.
Does anyone know how many years Batwoman has been operating?
I've been reading up on her and she seems to have had little or no arcane, spiritual, or mystical training. All her training has been very practical. So it's interesting how she's dealing with monsters, spirits, weird cults, and magic wielding foes. It hasn't been too big of a detriment so far but I wonder if they'll deal with this in the future had have her learn from some monks and mystics.
And it's interesting how she's basically had no training in that area. It's very rare for non-magical heroes to fight so many magical enemies without help from supporting characters who know magic, especially a street level hero without any super powers.

I was really enjoying the JH Williams III Batwoman stuff. I really wanted to see what it was all going to eventually lead into, but, ah well.

Yes, it was a good book with lovely Nguyen art, but you have to cherry pick them, because it was a book DC were real jerks with in terms of content and solicits. Paul Dini was supposed to be the regular writer but he would start an arc and then it would be a fill-in, but those last minute ones where they try and sneak them by. And by the end of the run they were putting 6 pages of Dini's story into the book, and the rest was some inventory story, seriously what the hell.
But anyway, the issues to get are 1-4, 7, 9-12. After that House of Hush, what would be a 5 issue story, is spread out over 8 issues. And it's not very good.
edit: if you never read Paul Dini's Detective Comics run, start there, it's much better. Streets of Gotham is more a compliment to Morrison's Batman & Robin, which was the flagship bat-book at the time.

Is something happening to the book or is this a personal thing?
Nothing exactly personal, but between the delays in the title and the DC reboot, I lost my ability to follow it. I'd also sort of assumed it was starting over with not a lot of what was in the series pre-New 52. Maybe that's not really the case, though.
Batwoman was supposed to get her solo series back in either 2006 or 2007. That's why they ended the Batgirl series. In fact, I remember there being a lot of speculation that Cassandra Cain might end up being Batwoman when her series ended.
I really didn't enjoy Batwoman in 52 (and was a little annoyed that Cassandra's title was cancelled because of her) and then I ended up not really reading anything else she appeared in.
I always meant to when I heard she got a lot better, but just never got around to it.
Did they ever give a reason for why she chose the name Batwoman when she's not affiliated with the Bat-family at all? I don't really think she gave one in 52, she just kind of met Nightwing and said she was Batwoman so deal, and he says okay and hands her a batarang.
On a side note about her costume, Alex Ross originally designed it years before her debut as part of a pitch for bringing Barbara Gordon back after fixing her spine with a Lazarus Pit.

Somehow I can't get super excited for Batwoman I don't know why. I think her costume doesn't appeal to me or something.
That's a shame, because her series (and her Detective Comics run) have basically been amazing. The most recent storyline wasn't great, but the current one is, and Batwoman #0 was an amazing issue

JH Williams III did streamline it for better design/functionality, though
The art and covers initially drew me to Batwoman and I think it has one of the best stories of the New 52. I love the pacing and the paneling.
I didn't know follow it before the reboot, so I guess I'm able to enjoy it without knowing what went on before. I would be bummed if there were a change up or if it got canceled.
It also had one of the few good #0 issues. (Flash and Batman and Robin being the others.)
Not sure how much stock to put in this but in Batman 201 it says that The Riddler is still a legit private eye... maybe they've deicded to keep him that way for the New 52?

Well, yeah, but not to the same extent.

are there really people out there who liked The Widening Gyre?
Don't understand why, though.
That's all I need to know, right?
Because I thought that was actually kinda funny in a non-canon sorta way
"Kevin Smith's Batman stories are the worst Batman comics I've ever read"
Big statement.
He knows his way around Batman comics.

She got caught up in a big prophecy by the religion of crime, she was sort of forced into the role.

Pretty much nothing about Batwoman got rebooted.

Although, it's great that Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown are there.
