Only two characters I can't identify:

    1. The redheaded guy between Damian and Carpenter (possibly a stylized Bullock even though he shouldn't have red hair?).
    2. The winged guy serenading Poisony Ivy with the guitar.

Also, Calendar Man is going to be pissed for getting snubbed.

The redheaded kid is named Colin Wilkes or "Abuse". He was the little kid from the beginning of... Heart of Hush, I think. He gets injected with Hugo Strange's Monster Serum and fights Batman. He comes back in Streets of Gotham as a vigilante hero and becomes Damian's best friend.

Lil Gotham #1 is a fun book, you get about 10 regular pages for a buck, and the framing device for these stories is a pretty good one (Damian knows nothing about holidays). It's as fun as the JL8 webcomic, and the next one shows up Nov. 15th, and it feels less like a kid version of the bat world as presented now, but more a lil version of BTAS, which works better because it doesn't have death everywhere.

Apparently DC updated Lil'Gotham and now the Stephanie Brown Batgirl has dark hair instead of blonde.

There are also reports that they removed the purple stripe on the outfit, but those apparently are false.

So I just picked up Batman: ground Zero (or No Man's Land #0) wow! Great writing and the art is just absolutely beautiful, great line work and great coloring. Check it out if you haven't already.

Edit: on second reading the story isn't INCREDIBLE (I wanted a bit more drama around why Bruce went into hiding when No Man's Land was declared) the art however is soooo good

And Harley did seem to like Batman in one or two episodes of the cartoon anyway.

Batman #14 was a good issue but it felt like Snyder was hitting similar notes to his Owls story, especially with the time stamp setting the stage for the tie-ins. And I can see what the twist might be
I think it might be an Xavier Protocols/Tower of Babel thing where Bruce has plans laid out to take out the members of the bat-family, and Joker just uses it against them, shattering of trust, etc.

One thing I don't get though is why Joker's eyes are different, one almost looks like it's glass. Coolest thing of the issue I thought was how the stereo system in the mansion, with it's dials and bars, made a mini joker face, that had to have been a colorist touch, just subconsciously showing Joker is in Bruce's head.

God damnit I don't know whether I can deal with this bite size thing. I like reading stories start to finish in one or two days! But I really like this story arc. I like how the Joker is basically in love with Batman, I like how he is actually in control of his shit (he knows about the court of owls incident, he knows who is who, he reflects on his past crimes). That plot twist does sound very likely. Nobody actually dies but the family is torn apart by the loss of trust hence it's still the death of the family. I'm also pretty convinced that Joker knows who Alfred is to Batman. This could also be a good time to turn Batgirl back into Oracle but I don't actually think that will happen.

Also just wondering is this the first time Batman has overtly referred to his crew as "The Family"?

I also noticed this. Snyder attempting to build the symbolic connections between them, I assume "Look man, we're the same!"

Funny, but I found Simone's Joker much more terrifying than Snyder's this month. Snyder's had a little more of a TAS vibe going. I could totally hear Mark Hamill's voice.

Maybe Batman's secret is that he has an adopted daughter who was trained from birth to be the world's greatest assassin and Batman is now mentoring her to one day take his mantle.

I really hope they don't go down the path of Batman becoming a loner again. I know that a lot of writers, perhaps most of them, really like that idea. I've heard an interview with Snyder where he said that he thinks Bruce will end up like a bitter old loner like in Batman Beyond. However, it's been done several times already. They just have him go through this cycle of thinking that he needs to do everything alone only to later discover that his family actually makes him stronger. They did it in No Man's Land, Bruce Wayne: Fugitive, and after War Games. The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Beyond, the Batman Beyond comics, and Dark Knight Rises all deal with that theme. I fear that Batman Inc. might be headed in that direction where some horrible disaster destroys Batman Inc., which convinces Batman that he has to work alone again.

I hope that the Joker's plan to split the Bat Family up fails and ends up reaffirming Batman's faith in the rest of the team.

I like Batman with his extended family. I know it goes agaisn't the whole loner bit of the character, but I'm sick of it.

I dunno, given the crazier elements of Morrison's Batbooks I find it more likely that Bruce has been working on some sort of meditative technique that, while under its effects, lets him empower everyone in Batman Inc with his essence to make them as powerful as he is.

I wish Grant's run was left to continue without the reboot. I just feel like it doesn't connect well with Snyder's run at all, or worse it makes Snyder's stories feel almost redundant

The confusion over continuity really hurt Snyder's stories. There is supposed to be the assumption that most if not all of the old Batman stuff has been kept but Snyder still has to keep things vague and can't reference too much old stuff. There's a Year One feel to his stories but since we're supposed to assume that this Batman is not too different than the old DCU Batman, things just don't fit too well. When Snyder retreads some old grounds, we don't really know if it's supposed to be new for Batman.

And Damian just doesn't make any sense at all
I mean they could have taken the "advance aging" route which would have been a cop-out but instead we've seen his multiple birthdays in Batman and Robin #0

I think I would have liked to see the Joker go in the other direction. Everyone seems to keep trying to make him darker and grittier and have him kill more people, when he's the clown prince of crime.

I'd like something where maybe the mayor is on television or something and when commenting on Gotham's crime he makes an offhand remark about the Joker just being a common murderer who thinks he's funny. This sets off the Joker who sets up this elaborate plan against the mayor, eventually even kidnapping the mayor and outsmarting Batman...only to hit the mayor in the face with a pie on live television and then surrender.

Then to prove his point, Joker tells Batman that from this day forth he will never kill a human or cause a human to get killed by his actions...until someone in the Bat-family does first. Play up the whole aspects of "You're just like me, you're no good for Gotham" etc.

After this, Joker focuses his crime spree around the idea of "What's the biggest crime I can commit that'll make the citizens of Gotham laugh?" while still not killing anyone. He'll let loose millions of marbles during a marching band parade. He'll repeatedly antagonize from Black Mask or Penguin just so Batman will have to step in and protect him when they try to have him killed. He'll take over a radio station to tell jokes all day. He'll rob a jewelry store but only steal the glass cases and leave the jewelry alone, and then set up an obstacle course on main street so he can drive his clown car through all the glass panes. He'll streak at a Gotham football game. He'll advertise a "Joker-impersonator" clown for children's parties and then rob any family that is dumb enough to hire such a person. And above all, he will annoy the ever-living hell out of Batman without ever really doing anything that would earn him a patented Bat-beatdown.

Hell, maybe at some point the Joker is revealed to be the only person with inside knowledge to solve some huge crime about to be committed by Two-Face or whoever, but he only agrees to provide the intel should Batman officially make him the sixth Robin for the duration of the case (green underwear and all). Naturally Joker screws with Batman at every opportunity, but strictly adheres to his vow of no killing and so does ultimately ensure Two-Face is stopped before anyone dies.

Then, a few years down the road just when everyone is starting to think of him as a comical nuisance, someone in the Bat-family slips up. Maybe Damian is attacked by a master assassin and is only able to stop him by killing him. Maybe Huntress snaps. Whatever, the point is someone in the Bat-family kills someone...and the Joker comes out to play. That's when you do the story like this (as now you've earned the dark turn). Now not only is Batman dealing with someone close to him having killed someone, but the Joker's murderous rampage as well (which is a direct result of someone close to him having killed someone).

Alternatively, if you really don't want anyone in the Bat-family having blood on their hands but really want to do the Joker-murder story, then have the Joker cheat to get out of his vow. Go back to the Joker-as-Robin idea, switch out the villain for someone more disposable, and have the story end with Joker-as-Robin just straight up killing the villain and then turning to Batman and announcing "Well, would you look at that? It looks like the Boy Wonder just killed someone. Now the Joker gets to play." Cue homicidal maniac story.

I like it when the Joker is just demystified

Thats how I like most villains

You play them up as these huge, imposing guys, like forces of nature almost, and then you reveal a crack in their armor. They're just human.

Like in Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? When he paid the guy to take care of his car? That was gold.

At this point, I've thrown all pre-New 52 continuity out the window. All the stuff they said at the beginning about "all the stories you remember still happened!" is just patently false.

Major events like Final Crisis, Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen, the last 20 years of Flash stories, none of that could have happened.

Applied to bat-books, anything prior to New 52 involving Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, Stephanie Brown, Cass Cain, Jason Todd and maybe even Dick Grayson are suspect. At best, they're massively altered.

Dick Grayson's past has probably been massively altered by whatever happened with Teen Titans.

And I could go for an arc where Joker decides that thing have gotten too dour in Gotham and he sets out to put a smile on its face, but then instead of poisoning everyone he just unleashes an elaborate an unexpected joke that makes even Batman laugh.

Finally got caught up with the last month of Batman stuff. Surprised that no one mentioned anything about Batman Inc #4 yet.
Especially since Wingman's identity was finally revealed.

From what's said in #3 and #4, it seems like they might be implying that The Heretic/Fatherless is Talia's second test tube baby that was seen briefly in Batman & Robin. Can't wait to see another Bad Future story next month.

Still enjoying Batman, though I'd love to see someone buck the "Let's make the Joker darker!" trend like Lars said. Enjoyed the Batgirl Annual despite being tired of owls. Batwoman was good, as always.

Catwoman seems to be going Twin Peaks. Detective Comics is still solid. The format and tone reminds me of Dini's detective run.

I think it worked just fine in the context of Morrisons' Batman run, but yeah it was something that is made sort of redundant yet again.
Previews of Batman #15 show Jason Todd teaming up with the Bat-Family, and Damian acting accusatory of him... this is literally what we're getting in Batman Inc.
