Shouldn't more light fix that?
There is just something weird about slimes, they always pop up in the lowest levels no matter how well-lit the corridors are.
Torches last forever now, but i read somewhere that this is about to change.

Slimes can show up anywhere, regardless of lighting condition. I read somewhere they spawn in larger areas, though.

I saw the thread title of the corner of my eye and saw "Microsoft - flooding everything with lava". Strangely appropriate.
I am starting survival, but you literally start with nothing. I am punching dirt, trees, any block type object I come across, but nothing is breaking down for me.

How do I get started?
Keep holding the button to break stuff. If you destroy a tree with your bare hands, you should have enough wood to make the tools you need to get started.
Pretty awesome. I doubt it was exported from minecraft somehow, but it would be cool as shit if someone figured out a way to do that. Creating TF2 levels with minecraft? Yes please.

Well considering that Notch wants to make Dwarf Fortress levels to be importable to Minecraft ...
new server software kept locking up so i tried to switch back, problem is the map is now incompatible with the old software
so i had to roll back 17 hours
sorry guys, just can't win here

I'm going to clean out the Lava and Water in the little underground cavern Igel, Myself, and Reagan made this weekend. It's going to take a LONG time, and I would welcome any help, as we have to start from the top and work our way back down (again.)
It takes a long ass time for foliage to go away on its own, and sometimes it doesn't disappear at all for some reason. The solution to this problem is to set the foliage on fire.

I got a pretty decent amount of lava out. I wasn't sure what was natural rock and what was cooled lava, so I just worked on clearing out whatever lava I could get to and left the task of fixing up the passages to you guys. I also had to stop early because I got hopelessly lost and couldn't find my way back, even after respawning

Here's hoping notch can fix whatever issue i'm having.
the good news is that im making a wicked cool world-tree-fort out in the wilderness.
It even has a secret door in it.

EDIT: But that shouldn't be the reason they are not growing. Make sure the sapling is planted in a nice open space.
Torches will keep it from snowing in an area around them, so plant some in the area you are trying to grow trees.
For real? Dang it, I was hoping it was just some sort of season cycle.
