Oh my god fuck I am such an enormous fucking tool. I have a habit, when there are no gunners around and no one else takes them, to remove any bowgun ammo from the supply box. Well guess what item in the HR Jhen quest looks like bowgun ammo and is located in the same area?

So we get through the first half of the quest quite well, breaking both tusks and spine holes and with no deaths. The only unusual thing is that one guy keeps asking who has the Ballista Binder ammo. As we begin the second half, I look through my inventory and... oh shit. How did that get there? Oh fuck I have no idea how to even operate this thing. So I stupidly confess that I have it, that Idon't know how I got it, and I don't know when to use it.

As Jhen belly-flops down twenty seconds later, the aforementioned talky guy says "now", but typing speed and lag mean the message doesn't come through 'til we've all been smashed by Jhen's giant lardass chin. I then proceed to die twice, spending most of the time guarding and hovering around the ballista rather than doing anything useful due to the facts that:

1. I don't want to die again.
2. I want to be ready to use the Binder if I have to.
3. I am really stressed out and flipping my shit and can't think straight.

The quest ends in a repel, I type out an attempted apology, that one guy reprimands me for taking the ammo, and two people leave the city. I then follow suit out of shame.

THEN I look at the MHwiki and realize the Binder ammo was that yellow ammo-type thing I so hastily grabbed from the box.


FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Seriously, I haven't been this embarrassed since I necroed a two-year-old thread on another forum last month.


And now I have to very carefully look at the names of everyone in every city I consider, and if I even THINK one of them was on that quest, I must run away as fast as I can with my tail between my legs.

They are all probably on their respective forums right now bitching about me. ;_;




(I did get a blood and a gem in the quest rewards, though. :3c)

Oye, Portable 3 confirmed on December 1st in Japan.

New monster in scan, looks like some cross between a bear with a kangaroo-ish head. Long ears, big nose. Guess there's some blurry Famitsu scans out, hopefully there'll be something nicer out soon.

Also Japanese release date of MHP3 has been set as December 1st this year. So I'd guess for a Western release around June next year.

Awesome - I'll be going to the pre-PAX dinner and TWDT on Thursday night, but any time over PAX I will be free to hunt some monsters. The only question in how to arrange when to meet up. Cell phone, Twitter, etc... will all be somewhat unreliable over PAX due to the huge mass of people with phones. Although calls and some texts made it through last year, and seemed to be the best method of communication.

Tigrex, an old friend from Portable 2. Naruga's in as well.

The weapon after the hammer is the hunting horn. While lacking the raw power of a true hammer, it allows for the playing of notes; combinations thereof confer buffs to the player or the party, stuff like healing, infinite stamina, attack up, wind pressure, etc.

Bows have infinite ammo, but you can bring finite coatings to use; power, poison, stun, etc. Bows have different levels of charging, which determines how much damage they do, and shoot arrows in different ways (piercing-type shots, wide spread, etc).

And bowguns are going to be either light or heavy, no mixing of parts to create this time around.

I do miss the extra weapon types from MH2. While not essential, they added more variety. Then again I love the revamped weapons, they are SO much better. I really hope Tri gets an expansion or follow-up of sorts. I don't want it to be the first MH game which doesn't.

Suppose I'll hop on Tri. It's been a while, so I'll probably be kinda rusty.

Yeah, I'll be around PAX all weekend, though my availability's probably going to be variable depending on which panels / lines I end up in each day. Should have another friend that could join us to fill the group, and I have all the fatalis quests loaded on the memory stick for epic fails.

Any day in particular look open to you guys? Think Sunday might be best, but i'll check schedules.

I'm also game for "after" PAX. And yeah, Sunday will work well for me.

yeah, an update/expansion would be nice. they recently released famitsu scans. one boss looks like a huge white rabbit. a new jaggi/baggi boss. (poison, like the dosu version of the ios). two new herbivores, burukku and erupe. a bison and ram for highlands. the gurenzeburu.

these are for mhfo and mh3 portable, but it would be nice for them to bulk up mh tri.

Holy cow. It's been forever since I've touched a Monster Hunter game, both Tri and Unite. I'll be at PAX too, necessary handheld gear in tow. It would be awesome to meet some of the other folks from PA. I know I've maybe posted once in a MH thread, but I did do a lot of lurking at the peak of Tri season. Guess I'll keep an eye on this thread when correspondence info starts popping up. I haven't run a quest in Unite with more than 2 people and it sounds like fun.

I've only just discovered how much fun the the 'Fire and Ice' Agnaktor/Barioth. Just did a few runs with a guy from Minegarde; got our time down to 09:02 which is pretty reasonable I think. I mean it's not exactly fantastic, but it's an S-class and that's good enough for me.

wow, so last night I plugged the old Wii back in after a two or three month hiatus and immediately finished up the single player game (holy cow Caedeus is big).

Do very many people play online anymore? I hopped into Minegarde to see what the haps was, but there was nobody online. Literally; no one on the whole server.

Pictures. One is Urukurusu, white rabbit monster that looks like they wanted to reuse the bear model from Aoshira.
The second is Dosufurogyi (Like Dosujagii and Dosubagii (Great Jaggi and Great Baggi) mixed with an Iodrome)
The third is Black Tigrex, who will appear in the Volcano. Im guessing Tundra and Sandy Plains as well.

Yeah, most people outside PA just go to the first Open server.

As for PAers, I think most of us (and I've been guilty of this) just get on, see if anyone's in M1 G9, and then if not, we leave. Lately I've been trying more often to set up cities and then wait for a while, though I haven't been on for a couple of days.



And yeah, Ceadeus is pretty much a badass.

No, they're definitely different weapon classes. Greatswords are big freaking western-styled swords, while longswords are giant Japanese-style swords similar to, but not quite the same as a katana.

You get your first longsword after defeating Lagiacrus, or you can start forging them after a certain HR online.

I'm on the 3 star quests on solo and waiting on Troublebrewin to get his copy of the game to do online. Been using the lance but I saw a video of a guy with 2hs capturing a Great Jaggi and thought it looked pretty awesome. Is it dw katanas? That sounds even better! I love this game.

I will try to get on and set up a city once my sister and her friend find the last two socks in their (mostly) ironic playthrough of FUCKING PAJAMA SAM and get off the Wii. Of course, whether or not that will ever actually happen (ever) is a 50/50 chance at best.

By the way, that Felyne Pokka game came out in Japan already, according to my sources. I'm tempted to see if there's some videos of it in Youtube, to see just what the hell it's like.

Jesus, Hot Deal is a bitch. The two times I did where half the party didn't disconnect, we had to clear on subquests after the first because we couldn't risk a third death. The second of those two times, we probably wouldn't have made time anyway, since one person had had to leave and we hadn't captured the first one. One Agnaktor isn't that bad, so it doesn't seem like two should be much worse, especially since they don't even come out at the same time.

[strike]And Sinister Saints is a pretty mediocre Switch Axe anyway (even if it is cool-looking)![/strike] Okay, if you can get Awaken, it's really good against things weak to fire, especially with Elemental Atk Up (Lagi+, anyone?).


But it looks like all that's a moot point now anyway, since As of half an hour ago, the quest isn't available any more. Double Lagiacrus is up, though, so if anyone wants to work on getting the shiny lightningy blue longsword next week, let me know!


Rage Match (Double Jho, yields leather pants), F. Forest Free-For-All (Lud, Lagi, Gob, yields sunglasses), and Jump Four Jaggi (herp derp, yields Jaggi Mask) are up as well, along with that dumb Gobul fishing quest that no one will ever do.

I got five tickets on my second Hot Deal. But I've done it a bunch of times to get tickets/agna parts for other people and I never found it especially difficult, although it did take somewhat longer than expected.
