However, the email they sent me gives a link, that link takes me back to the page that tells me to apply to beta.
When I goto the square-enix account manager page it tells me I must login with my square enix ID, which I am. I am using the same login details as I used a couple days ago.
So where do I go from here?

A step up over closed beta to be sure, and gridania is super pretty, but craft leves still bug me. I got 1 leve for a rank 1 carpenter and had 3 more that were rank 5. Wonder if I can get her to switch them up without having to fail those 3.
Keybindings are only sort of in, I couldn't figure out how to get it to actually let me change them. And hotbar buttons weren't remappable .

Finally got my character made, but I still can't actually play the game. Apparently even this early in the morning for the U.S., the servers are overcrowded. Over on the SA forums, people are saying there are very long queues to get in.

Yeah pretty much. Even though it is really early in the morning, on a weekday. This is insane. I imagine the retail release won't be nearly as bad.

Throw the sucker into Windowed Mode if you want to handle other tasks; it's in the configuration program they have for it. You might have some settings low in the program as well - which can also be fixed there.

I'm still in awe over how horrible their updater is. Somehow got stuck at 99.8% on one of the smaller update files after spending hours torrenting the 4.7GB meat-portion of the client.

Throw the sucker into Windowed Mode if you want to handle other tasks; it's in the configuration program they have for it. You might have some settings low in the program as well - which can also be fixed there.
Already did that; had everything (except AA) set to the highest.
Switching back to windowed mode for now, but is this alt-tab crashing a beta thing, or a SE thing?
EDIT: Heh, number of local connections keeps climbing. U/D is staying firmly at 0.00, though.
It's like they made a wager with Blizzard: "No way, we can make a patcher even worse than yours!" :P

You can sit in chairs, according ot the patch that sit was added in, but I would wager this only means player made furniture, or maybe special chairs.
