Ahh between gutting people with full heavy armor and a pump shotgun, or people telling me the m16/203 was not that accurate after i headshot them with if from halfway across the map makes me glad to hear this mod finally made it to source. I will have to give this a shot.

Hah, was just in a game where near everyone had mics and we were all bullshiting around. Ended up doing a 1911 and machete only match. Other than one ass with the 50cal, fun was had!
Its a bit of a mind screw coming from games like Battlefield or CoD, where you can ADS on everything. Currently you can only aim down weapons with scopes, not irons. I keep changing my firing mode on accident.
That one G3 with the scope is apparently getting an accuracy boost which sounds good to me, I've got quite used to it
I don't mind getting killed by sniper rifles and mounted heavy machineguns from halfway across the map, but it strikes me as a I mite weird that a shotgun can deal so much more damage to a heavily armoured dude than a burst of assault rifle fire
Also I need to do some investigating into melee damage. Makes me wish it had the damage pop ups that NS used to have, and that TF2 now has an option for. Is machete/level 2 recon worth taking I wonder
i've had to practically put the damn thing in someone's mouth every time for it to work as advertised, and even then sometimes a dude can just shrug it off.
I'm really stoked to see you guys talking about this, especially with all the radio silence in the G&T forums. I started playing Firearms back in 1999 or 2000 when it was first released and mapped for the team from 2002 to 2005, so it's incredibly exciting to see it come back like this.
Most of the issues you guys have raised are actively known by the developers at this point and they're hard at work on a new patch. Remember: it's not Firearms unless patches are flying left and right.

Seriously it may be rough around the edges right now but one of the definitive middle versions of FA for Half-Life was facepunching asskicking brainexplodingly fantastic and if this ends up half as good as that a few versions down the line, we're in for a treat
And then a certain vocal minority wanted various terrible "realistic" features implemented and that steadily divided the playerbase and it made everyone sad

shotguns are fucking useless right now

I've been one-shotted by shotguns a bunch of times even in heavy armour

Then I shot a guy twice in the face and he stabbed me to death.
Machete and level 2 recon is totally worth it. If you manage to hit, it brings lots of pain.
Mostly I just think it's silly that you can empty a clip into a dude and he can survive, so roll on the armour nerf/headshot increase
Feels good when you finish a guy with a pistol.

sometimes the video game feel is too prevalent
But for me, "realistic" preferences have only been about damage mechanics rather than interface etc.
Which is odd, because I enjoy the hell out of Team Fortress 2 and yet you can frequently survive headshots and explosives and being set on fire
