When was the AUG ever the gun to complain about? Firearms was all about the famas when I played; this would've been around RC 2.5 and 2.6.
Anyone remember how good the FNP90 was in CS during beta 4? Like, better than any of the assault rifles no matter what distance you were shooting from? Those were good times (if you were good with the P90).
I gotta make a map for this, I find most of the default ones kind of lacking. Which, coincidentally, is why I started mapping for Firearms 1 to begin with.
There was a thread about a guy who wanted damage lowered and they basically told him to get stuffed. I'm sure that at this stage they're used to dealing with mad forumers

Do not listen to their forumers unless you are used to them and have your filters in place. I'm serious, don't listen to them ever. You should even be wary about listening to me.

edit: Yeah this mod was totally brutal but very rewarding once you got used to it. The only mod that I hold in higher regard and hope I see one day in Source is the Specialists.

Hmm. Definitely a marked improvement with this patch, but I'm getting mighty sick of snipers picking me off from god knows where (it gets even sillier when they have maxed out Recon and you don't even see your own death message)

I think there's something up with the pellet spread on the shotgun
A pointblank headshot can kill, but often you can survive two of them, which is a mite weird, and makes me think there's too much variety on the spread

I'm an old hand at HL/HL2 modding and I can tell you that the relationship between the Client DLLs and the Server DLLs is often... troubled. Many times, the Client (your own PC) will report that something is happening, and maybe even draw it on the screen (like a blood spray), whereas the Server will have ignored it or failed to account for it. That could be the problem here.
That's a good point and it wouldn't surprise me, I've been playing on 120ish ping servers (which isn't exactly massive, but it'd make a difference, especially if smokes are being spammed and my machine is chugging)
It would certainly explain a lot of inconsistencies
RESULTS OF TESTING
heavy body armor is stupid overpowered, reducing damage by a third, and sometimes a fifth, and stopping instant death more than once
shotgun is instant kill on no armor, and headshots instantly kill everywhere else
second level of recon + machete is the strongest weapon in the game, always dealing 45 damage
and claymore mines are also stupid overpowered AS THEY SHOULD BE
When they work. Trip mode seems horribly bugged right now. Doesn't detonate when someone walks past, but certainly goes off when someone walks through the floor beneath them.
