Blazing Angels for the Wii

I rented this for the PS3 and was largely unimpressed with it as a PS3 title. I decided that it's WAY too much to justify owning on PS3, but I don't know what I'm sacrificing on other platforms. I looked up the Wikipedia entry and saw that it was supposedly canceled for the Wii, but today I found it on the "March" list of Wii releases for Gamestop. So which is it? Canceled or coming in March?

Also, I just bought it for $15 on PC... but before I open it and void my ability to return, I'd like to know if it is anything like the PS3 version (is the PS3 version is just a straight port + motion controls?). I mean, the motion blur and HDR weren't enough to impress me on the PS3, but I kinda expect it on PC.

The PC version of Blazing Angels is horrible. It's buggy, the controls are hit or miss, and the game performs like crap. It's another lazy Ubisoft PC port. Honestly, you're better off returning it.

Thanks. Is it a port of the XBOX version? I still have to catch up with Heroes of the Pacific and Pacific Fighters... Also, should I expect it to "perform like crap" even on a high-powered PC? If so, I won't waste my 7800GT SLI dual-core + 2GB RAM rig on it.

Yes, it's a port of the 360 version, which I hear isn't all that different from the PS3 version.

I've seen Blazing Angels Wii display boxes in EBStops. I was curious, as I knew this game was released on the other systems/PC.

Having tried numerous times to find any kind of info on the Wii version on the internet - any info, interviews, previews, hands-ons, details on controls, videos, screenshots - I have found nothing. Not a damn thing.

Since this is Ubisoft's game, I have to ask only a few things: Is there a previous version for them to port to the WII?

If not, thank God. Maybe they'll do something fresh for the Wii version instead of shoe-horning controls into a port from another system.

.... I for one can see the wiimote being used as a joystick/throttle.

Exactly. Which is why I've been scouring the web for info on the game, to no avail.

They need to take the controls very seriously with this game, because they can be done extremely well and make it almost a selling point for the game alone.. But I'm afraid that they'll just shoehorn in the controls like they did for Double Agent.

But seriously. This could work really well.

OK, so the PC version is a known Starforce title. Not that I don't already have a ton of those*, but I'll pass. Thanks for the info guys.

*which will perpetually stay on my backlog until I'm ready to play through and deal w/ Starforce remnants

I was intially very excited about a WWII dogfighting game for the Wii, but from the reviews I've read of other versions of Blazing Angels I'm not sure that even the most natural of controls can save this game.
