Alright, here's the low-down. I'm in an apartment where the internet hook-up is in my roommates room. I have a dell desktop with no wireless capabilities of it's own, so I bought a lynksys router to hook into my roommates room and a high-end lynksys wireless adapter in my room hooked up to my computer.
For a while the internet worked great, high speeds, no problem, but...
My roommate uses a laptop that has wireless capabilities. And I kinda noticed a link between her using her laptap and me using my computer, when both were own, sometimes we got disconnected (although it may have been my mind playing tricks on me.)
But most of the time her laptop isn't really in my apartment so I didn't care. But then she started bringing her laptop back more and more. And like that my internet started getting real screwy when her laptop was around. I would be able to connect for 15 some minutes, but then would lose internet for about 4-5 minutes until it came back. She had the same problem. I figure it's without a doubt linked to her laptop.
I had her connect directly with the router see if that does anything, as opposed to her going wireless. She gets somewhat better internet, but my wireless keeps going out.
But then things got wacky.
1. I turned her computer OFF, disconnected it from the router and I still had the problem
2. I disconnect my wireless adaptor, and connected my computer directly to the router via a very very long (and expensive) cord. Same damn problem as before... even when I was DIRECTLY connected to the router.
3. Reinstalled the router on my computer. Same problem.
So I start to figure it isn't a conflict between our computers. A few days go buy, she goes home for the weekend, and for whatever reason, all of today I had the best internet I've had in almost two weeks. No disconnections, just perfect and fast internet. Then she comes home and turns on her laptop and BAMN the problem returns.
I have no idea what my next step should be. PLEASE help, I have a very computer oriented class this summer semester and it's actually hurting my grades.
