Now this makes me feel better about myself vs terran.

I will throw you on the land and hurl you on the open field. I will let all the birds of the air settle on you and all the beasts of the earth gorge themselves on you. I will spread your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains. I will drench the land with your flowing blood all the way to the mountains, and the ravines will be filled with your flesh. - Ezekiel 32: 4-6

Oh hey look, I win another game where upgraded stalkers kill everything. Ultralisks? Check. Thors? Check. (It was a 2v2). I had like 40 stalkers and five immortals and I just walked through the map obliterating everything. This obviously won't win in the higher leagues, but it's hilarious fun in 2v2 silver.
7 in a row now. Seem to be doing well in getting matched against people who don't expand quickly enough. Actually had a burrowed zergling prevent a guy from expanding for a good while longer than it reasonably should have in my last game. By the time he finally got a detector on it his base was pretty much mined out and I had 2-3 bases for a while. He made a valiant push into my base with warp gates and blinking stalkers which basically wiped my army but I had the recovery ability and he was done. (edit.. holy shit just looked and this guy was platinum. lawl.)
Terran tried to Hellion harass and lost a good chunk of his forces due to baneling mines. Then I just out micro-ed him with roaches, and took out his command center with mutalisks.
Slightly favored that!
Also, I find that having two queens against early rushes (I 12-13 pool) is practically necessary.

There's something to be said for tenacity. I had a game earlier where my opponent outmacro'd me in the early game. He was at my doorstep with two tanks when I had the first popping out and didn't have siege yet. I held him off, but he had me walled off something fierce.
Watching the replay... I realize he stopped making units at that point besides tanks. He was doing a pretty standard Viking/Tank build but only used a few Vikings for sight. So when I rolled in with x+1 Vikings and a handful of Banshees, he freaked.
A similar game involved a base trade, PvP. We both had Stalkers and Immortals. I did a drop into his base while he hit my front door. He had expanded to his natural and I... well, hadn't. I picked up 8 probes with a Warp Prism and grabbed an island expansion then threw 4 Void Rays at him while he was scouring the rest of the map for me.
I see an inclination from a lot of people to just gg out when someone gets the upper hand in the early game. Keep in mind there just may be a way to pull it off.
I was playing ZvZ on lost temple and the enemy got lucky and scouted me early and did the zergling push with spine crawlers building. I fought it off once and was trying to build my economy back up and he came in with a shit ton more zerglings and 4 spinecrawlers before I could get my defensive crawlers and banelings up. He had killed all my units and my buildings were all I have left.
I typed out GG and got ready to surrender when he lagged. All the way
Until he dropped.
I saved the replay and named it "I should have Lost Temple"
I like that title, sounds like the name of a pro player's memoirs.

Ugh, I feel like a moron for not just picking up a disc copy on my way home from work last night.
I started downloading the digital version at about 7 PM last night.
Still 9+ hours to go.
Try turning off Peer-to-Peer. It can help things tremendously because Blizzard's downloader is shit.
...Jesus Christ I cannot thank you enough.
The second I did that, it shot down from 9 hours to three.
Looks like I spoke too soon. Now the download's completely stopped.
Maybe if I keep toggling it back and forth between p2p and direct whenever it starts to slow down, I just might be able to play before the weekend's over. :?
Did 3 games so far today. Feeling a little better about being in plat after the two wins. I am at least learning. The first game was zvz mirror. I figured he would get lings early. Little did I know he would just mass lings all day. He did get me contained on one base, though my one spine crawler killed like 20 lings as I would taunt him back into range. I kept fighting him off and got my spire up. He tried to baneling me, my lings absorbed it, and the few roaches I had cleaned up the remaining lings. When I sent my first three mutas into his base to kill like 4 drones he all out attacked me. He did break through, my drones and mutas finished off his army as my army popped. He saw it with his last ling and just gg. I felt good since I was on the defensive the whole time. Felt good from the beginning though since I scouted the dual hatch in the base and rarely do I do those players do well.
Second game was tvz. I for whatever reason just kind of forgot how to play. Got crushed. Had like 1k gas and minerals in the bank. I really am not sure what happened. Just like my brain stopped working. Oh well, died and just went on with my life.
Next game was a TvT . Now the last time I played 1v1 ladder I lost a mirror match to a guy who went marine/tank/viking and I did just my normal marine ball. I figured I would copy that strategy. Seemed like a good idea to me. So I bunkered up a bit, and got producing. I also tried not to make the same mistake of being in the dark so I would scan a good amount. The player was going mech, tank/thors/medivac/marines. I kept pushing out in small steps with the vikings and medivacs giving me cover and sight, the tanks the power and the marines the fodder. I contained him in his natural and his base. He kept trying to push out with his army. His thors would just drop. His medivac/banshee cover he added would evaporate to the vikings. His tanks died before they could shoot at me. I started up an expansion the cold, moved my main cc to another expansion and my natural is going. At this point I have 4 to 5 barracks producing marines, I have 3 factories producing tanks and my starports making vikings. I coulding produce fast enough. But it was fun. I felt good.
Also it got me my reaper icon and kept me at a winning record of 10-8 in plat.
I'm going back to the basics, going to try and focus on building workers, increasing supply, and keeping money low
Almost exclusively using hotkeys, no button clicking
it's pretty rough, almost beat the "very hard" computer, definitely don't want to go into matchmaking until i'm comfortable with it
My gameplay usually entails a solid start, finding out what the opponent is doing, forming a plan and executing it. I'm going to forget that stuff for now until i can incorporate it into this barebones hotkey gameplay. Although I end up tripping over myself, and my mind is just all over the place, I already see my speed of play (maybe better defined as APM) increasing.
I used to use 1 for nexus, and a button for sentries but that was about it. Using all the number hotkeys and absolutely no button pushing is hard. A lot of the time i'm sitting there saying, what button was my robo again? 7?
I know in time i'll get used to it, but it's pretty rough
Also with scouting, I think my problem was that I'd send a scout and hope to remember to check it out when he got to his destination. The way I should be doing it - I think - is creating enough pylons beforehand. Then all I have to do is create workers and warriors while focusing on scouting. I'm not there yet, but we're talking about a world of a difference in gameplay
Will likely pump out a few campaign missions, maybe take a gander at the practices and just take it as I go. Gotta learn to shift click from what I hear.
I need some way to start that timer when my queen comes out.
Like Exo said, use windowed mode non-fullscreen. If it's set at your monitor's resolution it'll still be full screen, but you can alt tab to bring a window up. So just start the timer program up, start the game, then quickly hit alt-tab and start timer when your queen comes out and minimize the program. Only takes a second.
Or Exo could look into a "keep this window on top" toggle.
I really don't see an automatic timer being useful unless you are religious about refreshing spawn larva, otherwise it will fall out of sync even just a half-second at a time until it's not useful anymore.
Set it for a 3-5 seconds after it's needed and BE religious about it. That gives you some slack, and even if it starts getting out of sync it's still a reminder. If it gets massively off just ignore it/turn it off.
Xeddicus on
"For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men. Not women. Not beasts...this you can trust."
Also people who drag out matches 15 minutes longer than they have too be should be shot. Yes, you build a bunch of hatcheries on island expansions - you have no resources, no production buildings, and 3 goddamn mutas. PLEASE LEAVE THE GAME NOW. </rage>
But then I played a toss who didn't wall in. So i took out his workers, but my lings died.
So I build some roaches for defense, then sent in more lings and oh still no wall off so I kill most of the workers again.
So he just powers zealots and stalkers, but by then I had a hydra/roach mix with 2 armor and getting +1 weapons, with roach speed and hydra range, had expanded, and had contained him.
Then for some reason against my hydras he got an immortal
i lost to a sophisticated cannon rush on desert oasis back in the beta. dude spotted with multiple probes while building the cannons on the low ground
you know, that map gets a bad rap but it's kind of fun because you will never ever see expect what will happen to you. i've been cheesed in some ingenious ways on that map.
but it's also kind of a shame because it'd be a fun map for macro games, with all the open areas.

But they turn the hydra 12 attack into a measley 10!!
I find it really sad that there are sooo many maps NOT on the ladder. Are they balancing them and then letting them in slowly...or are they just for fun?
Agria valley for example. Tons of fun.

building the pope at the nexus.
i litearlly never noticed the huge flame coming out of the nexus when a mothership was coming though

I am a freaking nerd.
What am I watching.
incontrol is the only one redeeming it
Not Warpgates.
He had 12 gateways.
He had an ass load of units, but still...
And funny thing is that midway through the game I stopped taking is it seriously. I forgot it was a ladder match. Thought it was a random custom.
who doesnt get warpgates???
maybe he really likes queueing units
let me find a picture
this guy was the only good part of that tl attack
i play protoss
therefore, i am gay
