iPod LCD Frozen, not responding to anything.

So I turned on my iMode this morning and attempted to change song. It wasn't working. I look over and my iPod is frozen at 29 seconds into the song, yet the music is still playing. I turn off the iMode, take the iPod out and try to turn it off. It doesn't work. I try changing song, volume, menu, EVERYTHING. Nothing works. Currently the LCD screen is still on, and it is not responding to anything.

Hold the (Play/Pause and Menu if you have an old iPod, Menu and Center if you have a newer iPod) buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears. Boom, reset.

    The firmware crashing.

There any way to avoid this in the future?

It's a computer device, computers crash once in a while. I don't know if it's avoidable, but it also shouldn't be very common.

It's unavoidable, but it does get a lengthy entry in the manual.

Well, I say it's probably not common because in the half year I've had my iPod, I've had maybe 2 hard boot crashes. I can certainly live with that.

Update the firmware can help. When I first got my ipod mini it was solid as a rock. First firmware update I did crashed all the time. Now with the latest firmware it's stable again thankfully.

Yeah, the firmware stability has been a lot better in recent years. My 2G iPod crashed almost weekly.
