    Member of oppressed class is powerless, doe-eyed, sweet and grateful in the face of benevolence? It's a perfectly legitimate narrative, but from the broad palette the author had to draw from, did he have to pick that one? Doesn't this rub anyone the wrong way just a little bit? If you can't have a balls-out Malcolm X figure, at least show a little resentment.
