If there was a pokemon that they left in the old games. Kinda saving it so it still only exists legitimately on Red, Blue, Yellow and thus, making it even more rare/"fun."
Something of a novelty poke, like Porygon or something. To get one, you'd have to get it and trade up from generation to generation or haxxor.
I can probably replace Ditto with Urugamoth or something until then, maybe switch up the team: Lepardas in the first slot with Taunt? Espeon's ability to deal with hazards will be a bit less than awesome when I can't use Ditto to know exactly what their lead has, but eh.
Also, fun idea with Espeon's moveset. Calm Mind, Psycho Shock, Shadow Ball, Echo Voice.
Repeated usage of Echo Voice will draw out Ghost types like moths to a flame. Then I break their faces with Shadow Ball.
And just in case anyone cares about the Jalorda: Coil, Leaf Blade, Dragon Tail, and I don't know what for the 4th slot. Iron Tail is strong, but doesn't kill Steel types. Leech Seed is fun, but then my only recourse against stuff that Resists Grass is Dragon tail, which is all kinds of useful, but moves last. Both enjoy the benefits of Coil's Accuracy Boost.

I'm sort of concerned that, barring his Dream World ability, Jaroda seems to fall behind Sceptile in terms of usefulness.
The only thing he loses out on is Coil, but I'm not convinced Jaroda will be able to find the time to Coil. I don't see him forcing many switches with his sub-par attacking stats and type coverage.
He kinda... sorta... looks like... in the right light...
Ok, so he's more of a giant amoeba... thing. Reminds me of the slimes from Pastel Defender Heliothorpe, actually.
But either way, give that guy an inverted crimson on black paint job and put him in a dark room, and I don't care how cute he screeches out RAN-CUUH-LOOOS, he ain't gettin' a hug.
Hm. I returned to Pokemon Soul Silver after not playing it for a while. Been collecting Pokemon off and on via the walker, though, so...
Kinda wondering what team to put together for the single player. Yeah, I know, not much need for strategy during the main game, but...
Current team is:
L38 Magneton (apparently I have to find my D/P/Pl carts to evolve him again)
L37 Typhlosion (Cut)
L28 Gengar
L25 Dratini
L10 Staryu (Surf HM Slave)
L17 Pidgey (Fly HM Slave)
Sidelined:
Grass / Water starter
Machamp
Alakazam
Bedlum
Horsea (Dragon Scale - So I can evolve him all the way up)
Dusckull (Reaper Cloth - So I can evolve him all the way up)
What's considered the best HM slave to use in Gen2? What all HMs will I need to keep ready the entire path through?
Really kinda hate having to waste a party slot on an HM slave. Hope that's better in Gen5.

I've never seen someone hyperventalate before. That was kinda neat.
In a Clinical Psychology class, the professor told us to hyper-ventilate so we could experience what it feels like. That wasn't kinda neat.

Also there are some third gen pokemon that are pretty god damn hard to get in 4th and 5th.
The Regis without the event Regigigas, the starters until HG/SS, Jirachi.
you could even trade from 2 to 1 so long as it was a gen 1 pokemon with no gen 2 moves

But can you go from 1/2 to 3? That would be ... what, Ruby/Sapphire I think.
Well, there are LG/FR and HG/SS now, which replace the Gen 1 / Gen 2 games, but they're not considered "gen 1" or "gen 2", are they?
I guess my question becomes -- are FRLG / HGSS considered Gen1/Gen2 now, or are they Gen3/Gen4?
Also: Trading from Gen4 to Gen5 -- is that possible? Directly, pal park, etc?
oh I misread what you said
I thought you said "from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3"

Gens are done by what system they are on+what mechanics are in place.
Gen 1 is R/B/G/Y.
Gen 2 is G/S/C.
Gen 3 is R/S/E/FR/LG.
Gen 4 is D/P/Platinum/HG/SS.
Gen 5 is B/W/Whatever.
Yes, it's supposedly a mini-game thing like pal park

I will have to settle for bipolarbar
Bipolear?
Ditto, Espeon, Lepardas, Desukan, Slaking, Jalorda (With Overgrow).

Ninja: Wait, the White version gets a cute little Giygas-sorta... thing? Aww, darnit!
And what's this I hear about Gen5's version of Zubat (some mole thing that's real easy to get) being so good he's giving the TierScrubs fits?

The mole is this gen's onyx.

Steelix too!
The mole is a motherfucker!
I love the hidden eyes on that little fuzzball
NNID-InvisibleInk
I wonder if it would be worth using over Return

I believe he gets surf, strength, rock smash, cut, and either whirlpool or waterfall, I can't remember
but you probably want waterfall on dratini/dragonair/dragonite anyway
And Bibarel
I'm sure there's some convoluted math for why you shouldn't but really the best reason is it confuses you and locks you into a move.
