P3P Quick questions:
Can Die for me! and Samsara be carried by fusion or they are exclusive to Alice/Daisoujou?
And, exactly, how is defined the effectiveness of hama/mudo skills?
Unless you have a modifier, Hama/Mudo have a 50% chance of working, and the upgraded versions are about 75%. (I think. That's how it worked in Strange Journey, anyway.) As for your other question, I don't know.

Die for Me! can definitely be carried over in P3. Never tried Samsara but I assume it can as well. No skill is exclusive in P3 to my knowledge.
The line is "survival horror/RPG", right? I could see it being a third-person action game with the focus being dealing with your surroundings or staying safe instead of fighting, maybe some Silent Hill or Ico sort of elements.
I thought the clip around 2:00 in the first trailer might have been a moment of gameplay, but I'm probably wrong.

I want to play Persona 4, but no longer have a PS2 (my launch-day system crapped out a couple of years ago). Should I suck it up and get another console, even if there are no other PS2 games that I want to play? Or should I hope for a P4P, since I'm already planning to get a PSP in order to play VC2 and P3P?

P4P seems really unlikely.
IMO, Persona 4 is the best RPG in existence, so yes, I'd say it's worth picking up a PS2 for. A PSP is a worthwhile purchase too though since there's a lot of awesome games there.

So I just started playing Persona 4, and probably 3 at some point in the near future. Anything I should know?

Social link or battle wise? The first varies on opinion, the second is pretty much the usual stuff. Aim for weaknesses, don't delve too far too fast, because fluke deaths can and will happen, and always use Chie.
Finally getting around to playing Nocturne for the first time. I made it up to Matador...
Yeeeeaah... Well shit. Back to the grinding chalkboard!
It's okay, he kicked my ass too. Made me realize I'd been doing it all wrong and forced me to start over. But it was worth doing, because when I made it to him the second time I had a better understanding of the press turn system and how to exploit buffs/debuffs.

It's not a true playthrough unless you go True Demon.
Well, you could see a normal ending then go back to a prior save, but I wouldn't wish two runs of the Tower back to back on anyone during their first run.

Funky student's mom?
If her name doesn't begin with the word Foxy, I'm going to be horrendously disappointed.

So there's Katherine and Catherine. Well then.
Well, also Excel Excel.
And more importantly, Misato Katsuragi.

Neither did I, until now.
I'm getting serious Evangelion vibes here.
Finally.
The quality is pretty awesome.
I had no idea what you were talking about until I heard those 5 notes.
This is going to drive me nuts.
fucking finally
I've been looking for like, an hour
And, still no gameplay. :?
At first I thought basic RPG.
Then they started focusing on solving puzzles in interviews(like it was the focal point), so I'm not so sure.

Yep, the hunting music. It's played during a very short level in Maken X.
Funny, most of the OST is extremely generic. Maybe my Meguro standards are too high.

What is this. RPG, some action game, survival horror. What the hell? We need gameplay.

As others have said, go for Fog Breath.
Should I be doing this on my first playthrough? I mean, I just really wanted Pierce.
it's a pretty swell ending though
you're not missing anything you can't find on youtube
Want it!

On my second, it was pretty easy.
