I just wish some of the main scenes would change based on Social Link rank. Like, maybe it's just in my experience, but couples tend to sit next to each other in groups, right? So if I've been dating someone for months, maybe they should sit next to me, or even make a little small talk like couples do, or something. Small stuff like that would really add to the game.
Also, I'd appreciate more than one extra scene after Maxing a link, even if it didn't give an extra gameplay benefits. I honestly care more about hanging out with characters I like than some extra experience points or Personas.

I think they really tried hard with P4, as it's a major improvement from P3's S.Link system. That being said, doing what you're asking would be harder than it seems for the devs, but I wholeheartedly agree with your idea, as I considered it myself.

Come on, I can't be the only person that chose Chie.
No, you aren't the only one here with good taste.
I chose Chie, because she's awesome. If you can dragon kick an enemy's ass into the milky way, well you're A-okay in my book. What's that Rise? Oh, you don't have a cool move because you do support? Also you're not your more normal and mellow self? Welp, see ya!

At risk of sounding a little bit weird, I've played through Persona 4 five times, and chose Chie as my only girlfriend every time. This despite telling myself that I'd pick someone different or, hell, pick them all just so that I can see the extra content. It's pretty sad that I've played such a linear game so many times, and there's still a few things I haven't seen.
Yes, at times the writers didn't know what to do with her and, yes, her social link is pretty dull outside of one good scene and, yes, her Persona's skills are rubbish. Despite all that, I think she's the most fun and - to me, at least - most believable female character in Persona 4.

Both would be really nice. I think P3P has been a baby-step in the right direction; a few Social Link scenes have added dialogue depending on progress with other Social Links, and the romantic options are limited. They don't capitalise on either, though.
It is kind of bizarre how in the Persona universe, it is the norm to keep relationships a secret. It's been my experience that teenagers of both sexes would rather everyone know.

I know. When I got Yukiko as a girlfriend on my first playthrough (which didn't take long, since she's like the easiest girl to max out for Social Links), I found it weird that Teddie was occasionally flirting with her. I half expected the MC to go: "HEY, THAT'S MY GIRLFRIEND!"
Chie was always in my party. I went the just friends route with her since Yukiko was already my girlfriend, but there was no way Chie was leaving the party. She even punted one of the mid-dungeon bosses out of existence!

My endgame posse was Chie/Kanji/Teddie. I felt really bad about leaving Yukiko out of it, but I felt he'd want his girl to be safe from a trip to Yomi.

The persona games are very very Japanese - expected culture norms are a bit different.

It's more that the Social Links have no bearing on the actual story.

I hope if anything, P5 starts making social links/relationships actually matter with the plot. Having to actually manage a relationship would be interesting, so you can't just form them without committing to one.

Endgame party for me was Yukiko, Naoto, and Kanji, with me sometimes switching out Yukiko for Teddie. I'll be honest: if it weren't for Power Charge, I just wouldn't give a damn about Chie. I don't need a character who's nothing but Phys, I need a little variety. Sure, Kanji isn't the best with Mag, but at least he learns Ziodyne and Maziodyne, plus elec amp. and technically, his ultimate phys move does more damage than God's Hand, which Chie learns.
My late game party in P4 was mostly Yukiko, Chie, and Kanji. The skill set worked well and it does make a difference that they're also the characters I'd want to go out drinking with. Teddie would be fun to hang out with too, but until the squeaking stopped, we're telling him and Naoto that we needed to study that night...
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

Remove Yukiko in favour of Yosuke, and you have my first play-through team. I knew it was a terrible party formation - the only way you could make it worse is by plonking Naoto in there - but Persona 4 is an easy game, so fuck optimisation. Go, Team Best Characters!
Because seriously, I am trying to knock down the enemy and end the fight in one turn stop trying to help with your stupid extra moves I mean seriously.
Chie belongs to Yukiko. Or the other way around. They pointedly dont talk about it in your presence...
As far as actual party balance goes, I picked up Brosuke, Amagidyne, and Buff Bear. For pretty much those reasons.
Oh, two full healers and high speed dodge buffs are great, too.
i had to switch out kanji for yosuke but i don't remember why. yukiko and chie were a must though. chie was clearly the optimal choice for dating but i went with rise anyway.
The problem with Chie for an actual relationship S. Link is that her stuff doesn't start until 9. That was really lame, because then you only had the one other time that wasn't the two of you being normal buddy-buddy brosef pals. In addition the relationship stuff only started at the very end of the 9th level. So she really got screwed on that front.
...Am I the only one who mains Naoto in my party? I mean seriously, how can anyone turn down no weaknesses plus insta-kill magic and almighty spells w/ Mind Charge?!

Hmm, they sound like the sort of people I don't ever want to meet.

Pretty accurate depiction of P3P.

Also, that's Hitoshura at the counter.

Also, Don't worry, dude; She will take care of akihiko.

The wife and I call it her Space Kick. It's the only special move I never skipped.
