Seattle Pre-PAX concert, Thurs. Sept. 2nd! The Comet Tavern!

edited September 2010 in PAX Archive
So for the last two years, me and a couple other forumer friends who are in local Seattle bands have put on a concert the Thursday night before PAX and invited everyone from Pax to come hang out, hear some great music and party it up with us. The first year, we exceeded capacity at the Rendezvous downtown and last year we packed up The Comet on capitol hill real nice and even had one of the actual Pax bands play (which we later learned wasn't actually allowed).

So this year, we have no official Pax bands, but so far every band we have on the line up has at least 1 forumer in it and one of the "special guests" is a solo project by one of the most glorious of all forumers, but he is a surprise.

Here's the flyer, made by our very own Tonkka:
prepax2010small.jpg

The Keeper is Tonkka's band and they're some good hard, usually fantasy based metal, listen to them here: http://www.myspace.com/thekeeperyes

Fused is my band (as you can probably tell from the sig) and we're real traditional heavy metal, check us out here: http://www.myspace.com/f_u_s_e_d

Both of our bands are a whole lot of fun to watch and there will be general drinking and dancing and carrying on in a merry fashion! Anyone and everyone who is in town on Thursday should come out and have a blast with us!

RSVP via Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101350606580013

HOOOORAY PAAAXXXX!!!!!

this show is going to be amazing, plus lots of PA forumers yukking it up in the crowd

if you're over 21 you don't want to miss it! the comet is an easy walk from the convention center, lots of stuff to do right around in case you want to grab dinner beforehand, plus maybe we'll get cupcakes.

    mario_cupcakes_sweet_lg.jpg

(not those cupcakes, but still pretty good ones probably)

Yes, Cupcakes! Also, there were some cool goodie bags last year for folks who sported their PAX badges when they entered. I'm not sure if we're doing that again, but we might be, so show up, just in case you get free things!

Those are pretty amazing cupcakes. I really wanted to stop into this (specifically for one of the special guests), but unfortunately I already have three places I'm supposed to be at that time that day.

If I were a carpenter, I'd hammer on my piglet, I'd collect the seven dollars, and I'd buy a big prosthetic forehead and wear it on my real head.

I've already seen both these bands live and am looking forward to a fun show at a good dive bar. I'll probably go outside between sets and have a street sausage again.

That is a brilliant idea because I'm pretty sure he hates everything about a show like this. So he will just be seething at us all, hating how loud it is and how drunk we are. I LOVE YOU SHOE.

Purely on the recommendation of the sheer aural ecstasy that the man in the flyer is experiencing, I will attend. I bet he's hearing something REALLY good.

So this is going to be as good as killing zombies? Sounds good to me, and there is less chance of tripping and having my brains nibbled on.

    A couple of questions:
What is the lowdown on buying beers for the bands? Are there particular bands that should not be liquored up or allowed to eat after midnight?

Do we have to roll for initiative when The Keeper starts a set?

I'm pretty sure you can just offer to buy a beer. If they don't want one they can always decline.
