Guides/Info for creating WordPress themes

Anyone have any guides or info for creating WordPress themes? I've been reading the docs on Wordpress.org, but they seem to (mostly) reference WordPress 1.5, which I hear is an older version.

If you have a guide with a tutorial, that would be awesome.

    Alternatively, can anyone recommend some good books for learning CSS, PHP or HTML?
