Not sure how I won this. Lost a couple zealots early on due to more marines than I expected, then ended up losing some zealots and an Immortal that I had sent up to await Stalkers, but forgot about.
Got attacked with a bioball and tanks, barely beat it off with Immortals, zealots, and Stalkers, while defending Banshee harass. Started building up again and kept having to fight off tanks with bio, with Banshees or Vikings spotting for the tanks. Eventually I build up enough to start pushing out, encounter more tanks, kill them, guy just says "must be nice to warp in units" and quits.
EDIT: I would like to point out that he never researched Stimpacks, which may have allowed him to just roll over me.

I think the turrets were not a terrible idea. It did prevent gretorp from just sending his vikings all over the goddamn map. I think he could have gotten by with a hell of a lot less turrets mind, and they became obsolete when the BCs came out.
Damn, won six straight in 2v2 and then end the night with two losses.
I defend, my cousin rushes muta and harrasses, I amass a death fleet of aircraft, smite whatever they send at us and then the game is over because I have 20+ banshees and my cousin has brood lords.

As Protoss, how do you counter Void Rays and immortals, with two observers and 4 sentries? I'm Protoss and I can't think of terrific counters to this, other than to go void rays and immortals and hope you have better macro. You might think mass charge zealots and blink stalkers but if I can micro at all I could forcefield and guardian shield effectively where immortals could still win against the stalkers, leaving zealots without antiair
Unrelated, people like to mass stalkers but i find charge zealots with a handful of sentries to be incredibly effective in so many early game situations (especially against lings, MM or stalkers). The only difficulty is that sentries are micro intensive
Also, in PvT if he's turtling and has plenty of missile turrets how do you scout him? Send in a few quick voidrays and hope they can take the damage? or what?
Yeah i love that. One guy yelled at me for a 14pool. I ran my 6 zerglings into his base and he had nothing but probes. He was like "Bullshit cheese" and im like "Its cheese that you still dont have any attack units after 5 minutes???" and hes goes "Yes, rushing bullshit zergling cheese, youre shit".
After 6 minutes he didnt have any probes either
I ran into the same shit in a ZvZ last night, I 10pooled (as I always do in ZvZ) to get out four early banelings to hit his mineral line (got this from the ZvZ day9 daily a few days back, I think it was Sheth who did it) and by the time they hit his base he had two extractors, an evo chamber and a spore crawler down. I checked the BO after the game and he used his initial 50 minerals to get the two extractors.
My fairly early attack was of course "bullshit cheese."

just had a really close game with a toss. ended up being gold league so I probably shouldn't have had such a hard time but ... well I guess it wasn't really that close, and I blew a lot of guys droping in to take out his nexus.
anyway. tired but I just had coffee and I was shaking waiting for his void rays.
the good part is I've been fighting up and down the 70s the last couple of days but this win bumped me to 67. awesome.
Ahahaha - played someone who quit before any real fighting started. I figured it was a lost connection. Watched the replay and it turns out he set a bunch of scvs to attack his own CC until it blew up. I messaged him about it and apparently he had tried to click my scout and missed. Got matched against a protoss for my final placement match and I was so convinced he was going void rays when he got really fast double gas and walled in though using a zealot and not a tight wall. So I just with my original plan which was a marine/ghost ball and just try to end it quick and quiet-like.
When I hit his front it turned out he had been spending that gas not on void rays but on sentries and the scan+emp I started with felt like such a dick move.

I finished my placement matches last night; 2 Protoss & 3 Terrans:
-First match I beat a Protoss player who I thought wasn't that great based on him putting cannons in his base early on. I opted to FE only to be shocked when a Colussus and a handful of Stalkers came forth from his base. I lost my expo and barely held off his forces with one Viking and mad pumping our Marauders. During the battle my Medivac dropped off 4 Hellions into his money line eliminating his entire Probe force. My next push finished him off.
-Starved out a Terran player in the 2nd game with lots of Vikings, Marauders, Tanks, and Thors. Holding the towers with the extended vision was key to my win.
-The third game vs a Terran started and he immediately dropped. :?
-The fourth game was against a Terran who infantry rushed me. 1 Reaper and some Marines got held off. Then he dropped my expo which I barely held onto with some tanks. My Marines at the watch towers spotted his FE to the gold minerals and 3 dropships preparing to drop. Marauders wiped out the expo and Vikings took care of the dropships (which prompted a "wow" from him). Had to scan the crap out of a group of 4 Banshees to kill them all off. A push with Tanks, Marauders, and Vikings finally finished the game.
-The last game was against a Protoss who built a Forge in his base. I immediately searched my base and found a Probe just starting to warp in 2 pylons. Pulled 6 SCV's and had my initial Marine focus down the warping in Cannons. Cleared it all out and made my way to his base. He had 4 Cannons at his ramp, so I stayed put and expo. Started shelling him with Tanks before Void Rays appeared. Pulled back, built up a large Thor/Viking/Tank army and got another expo. Set an SCV on patrol between the last two starting locations and eventually overran him.
So, 5-0 (well, really 4-0) and it puts me in Platinum. I don't think I should be there, Gold tops really. I guess continued gaming will take care of my actual placement.

So I decided to do some research on what times of day and days of the week I'm winning/losing. I might have lost track of the days info, but if its correct I tend to win more than lose on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, lose more than win on Mondays. Rest is pretty much even.
As for times of day.
W - L
Morning 3 - 1
Afternoon 11 - 11
Evening 45 - 41
Night 14 - 16
So theres no real pattern. Although I might add that it seemed like I had a much poorer loss ratio late at night, but that swung back when I got to older games, so theres a bit of a question mark there.
In the end, theres isn't really any particular insight from this info in terms of "I should play this day/time of day in order to advance on the ladder." Which is useful info in and of itself.
So one time my friend was playing a 3v3. This guy is known for his hilarious chat antics and unorthodox play style.He starts off the game with "I'm massing marines", and true to his word that is exactly what he does. I don't think he even upgraded them at all. Just a big 'ol ball of marines.So one of his allies sees this, a blue protoss, and says something along the lines of "man what are you doing you are such a noob".
My friend, being slightly inebriated and in a no-nonsense kind of mood, immediately begins wrecking all of his ally's stuff. As soon as the first building fell, the blue protoss responds with "haha what are you doing noob"
His first base falls. "Haha god such a noob"
His natural falls. "Haha noob lol"
Up until now none of his bases had been defended at all. This last one is full of stalkers. So the marine ball walks in, no upgrades, and pretty much wrecks the ball of stalkers. Not really sure how he did it with no upgrades, but I think only about half of his marines died. "noob" "noob lol" "such a noob". At one point the other ally, Orange Terran, actually came in and tried to help out with some marines, but his force also fell.

That's when orange says "My teammates killed each other, gg"
I think the guy deserved it for being a dick, and we watched the replay and laughed many times. It really was hilarious. The only person I felt bad for was orange, as he seemed like a fairly reasonable gent. Now you people might consider this an act of trolling, but I thought it was a lesson of respect. And it wasn't ranked or anything, so it didn't really hurt anyone.
