The compass is pretty sweet, it actually turns in your hotbar without having to hold it. It's handy for getting back to spawn now that you can't rejoin to get there in multiplayer, but it would be way more useful if you could change your spawn point.

Wait, you can't type /home?
Yeah I guess that still works, but it'll probably be removed eventually.
Oh man, I haven't played since shortly after SMP came out, how're things lately? I doubt my little boathouse (or even the server save itself) are still there.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Hmm, so does anyone know if creatures stay spawned even if no one's around? That incident with the spider, followed by a spider getting stuck in my building, makes me want to turn my building into a zoo. It's just the right size for it.

I guess we'll find out when the server gets back up.

Creatures despawn. You'd have to build a cage around a mob spawner in order to make a "zoo"
imagine if notch secret friday updated gravity to all blocks but obsidian
just
imagine
All the caves would collapse...
Or be made out of obsidian.
No, notch has talked about blocks collapsing unless they were somehow indirectly tied to obsidian. Probably bedrock too I would imagine. It seems like that would be a really expensive algorithm to figure that out on the fly though.
man you guys are too busy thinking about toughness of programming that and not enough about all the castles that would fall on your heads when you entered the game

Very expensive, especially since the world is built into chunks. You'd have to perform "attachment" calculations across chunks as they loaded, which would really choke world generation (given how hard it has to work now). Is it possible? I suppose only Notch really knows, but I'm not sure it's worth the performance hit.

This is how you do it
The lava sea got replaced by a hole to nothingness.
Wait, you can't type /home?

Ok, instead of lava sea I meant the large lava pockets you occasionally find underground or do those not work either?
woo i am correct
welp better stop covering those in sand so i can check for diamonds underneath them
Gamertag: PM me

Well, done with the frame at least, still have to get some windows up, and decorate the inside.

Maybe I'll make it into an art museum instead.
Go ahead.
OP also needs the info for the IRC. The one for zetx's server is #minecraft_pa on slashnet.
just

Lava (w/ bucket) can fuel a furnace long enough to smelt 100 items

it wouldn't make stone like sand, it would just make everything but obsidian not able to float
he talked about it once, he didn't say he WOULD do it but he said he considered it once
