Hmm, I don't remember how to manually set the number of colors the image should index in GIMP, like sabre did. If you combine that with the animation optimization it would be a nice tidy little file.
Moose I dun' even know what an add jusmant layer is.
It allows you to make sweeping dramatic changes to a layer without affecting any of the pixels beneath it. Thus you can mess around as much as you want and if you don't like the effect, simply toss the adjustment layer. They are powerful and disposable.
yeah, how's that different from a regular layer? Can you apply filters and things non-destructively using them or something?
Even so couldn't you just duplicate the layer you wanted to work on, make one of the duplicates invisible, and mess with the other one and then delete the one you like less?

Yes, although at that point it's starting to feel like a bit of a hassle.
I guess it would be most useful, if it works like I'm guessing with the filters, if you want to try many combinations of many filters on a layer, so you can just toggle individual filters on and off rather than make lots of copies and delete them over and over.

Smaller file-size, better organization, and no permanent changes until you want them.
Well you never know, you might find it useful and integrate it into your technique if you tried it.
Except money, of course.
Those are also good reasons above me there. That's a major thing photoshop has going over GIMP, it saves project files rather than finished bitmaps, with lots of organizational things saved with the actual image data.

Looking at a video of using adjustment layers, it just looks like a way to easily interact with your undo history.
Which isn't really something that would really fit into the kind of stuff I do.
Yeah, perhaps it wasn't a fair example. When I first used them I was working with photographs; so it would be useful for that or for more painterly type coloring.
Really my biggest beef with GIMP is how unstable it is for me.
It would be interesting to compare the wiki page on trollmance as it stands now to how it will look after this series of infodumps run their course. What they got wrong, specifically.
At least partially. It seems more that since they have such a large capacity for hatred, they tend to become so hateful that they become obsessed with the object of their hatred to the point that the feeling starts to resemble affection.
Those quadrants which are CONCUPISCENT, the flushed and caliginous, have to do with facilitating the elaborate reproductive cycle of trolls.
Wait, what.

All this talk about avatar filesizes, goodness.

(I have a new one in the works, please forgive my .gif ignorance)
As for the homestuck,
1. That's what Kanaya gets for Moiraillegiancing around with any troll she can get her greedy claws on.
2. It looks like I was right in a post I made threads ago about the four types of romance (we're talking back in the days, of the shipping wall, guys)! Also Karkat's statement about the two basic emotions, hate and pity, seems to be pretty accurate. Namely the "concilatory" bit, implying, well, consolation. Though maybe it would be more accurate to say the only troll emotions are lust and pity?
WELP. I had no clue what was going on before, and now I have no clue what's going on fourfold.
Seems pretty simple to me.
Upper left=true wuv
Lower left=true hate
Upper right=platonic friendship
Lower right=dislike that isn't very strong
All of these are considered romances so Kanaya is considered the village bicycle. Because they are considered romances with the complexities that implies, troll adolescence is really emotionally fucked up.
So yeah, I got bored waiting for some stuff to render and I was like "Oh, this seems like a good idea for some reason!" so I did it. This picture actually turned out quite well, so I figured "what the hell? What's the internet for if not for making a giant tool of myself for everyone to watch?"

muse you make this? if so, it's my favorite work of yours so far
Now that makes sense. It cropped areas so it's just the things that change that are the layers.
Now it's like Hussy's original gif. His had that and I was like whoa, cool.

I couldn't remember so I just optimized Sabre's versions.

Kanaya's sprite is the best sprite.
Like there wasn't one, and then I went back and read the last few pages because they're awesome, then suddenly it was there!
Especially since people that get to this chunk of the story a few months from now won't have the benefit of the forum posts to help them.

So the spade is basically hatefucking?
Which is to say I don't care what happened before, and I'll look it up if I need it.
