Via the request meme. Tried to draw Terezi and Tavros genderbent. Terezi was okay, but female Tavros doesn't look like girltav so much as normaltav with extra fabulousity.
I've realized that I would read the hell out of trashy romances if they were half as well done as Homestuck.
Well the reason they're trashy romances, as opposed to good pieces of literature, is because they're not well done.

I should reread the troll arc from its beginning soon; the romance feels like it is dragging but that is likely the product of wait time between (daily!) updates. It would probably feel much, much faster paced if read all at once.

yeah, this is usually how it ends up
the intermission goes by like a breeze when you're reading through it all at once.

I will admit to rather enjoying the romance, it plays out well. I suppose what I don't like as much is the actual exposition of it, if that makes sense. I would have been fine if the romance system was merely referred to and hinted at, I don't mind not knowing how something works, this is a story where a video-game can manipulate one's environment, my disbelief is suspended enough already.
But perhaps this is for the benefit of fans who do not peruse the forums and some-such.

That's absolutely what it's for. It's not fair to demand that readers keep up with forum posts (which won't be around eventually) in order to fully understand the story.
The other important element to consider is that we've had a lot of time between Karkat's romcom rant and Nepeta's shipping wall and now, so we've analyzed it and thought about it and worked a lot of this out on our own. Future readers will just click right through to the next updates without thinking about it as much.
Well, shippers aside, romance is an excellent way to build characters. It's not entirely necessary, but when used properly it can definitely add depths to people that weren't there before. I like that he's doing it for Hivebent.
That said, I'll be quite happy if it's never brought to the kids when we get back to Homestuck proper.
I love how three pages (out of thousands) devoted to a little world-building has made these people flip their shit just because of the specific asset of the world that's being built
The only possible conclusion is that these people have never known true affection for another human being and become bitter and enraged when anything reminds them of that fact, directly or otherwise.
I wish he'd do more small flash updates to use more music, I like music more when it's associated with an animation. And now we have volume 5 with like, 2 songs that were actually used and 98 that weren't.
does anybody else worry that they like Homestuck a little too much?
we like homestuck a little too much too
nah. I think it's fun to post about and keep with, but it's hardly as if any substantial portion of my life is caught up in it. I post a lot, but if it were suddenly gone not like I'd be making youtube videos bawling my eyes out and sending death threats to hussie.
it's just a webcomic that's fun to read and talk about.

But seriously they're acting silly. Don't like the new update? There'll be more soon! Quit worrying!

Crwth, is this because of Muse? You gotta let the past go, man.
Maybe that wouldn't have happened had Hussie placed this update in its own section, a collection of his various comments and clarifications?
