I live in the middle of nowhere so I will be turning the lights off in my house and strolling out the backdoor with a beer in my hand. Maybe grill some brats for a little early morning snack while I watch.
If I check this out the morning of the 13th, like say 1am-4am, would that be too late?
I have to be up for school the next day, but I keep missing these and it's pissing me off so I might try and go to sleep early and have a nap before class.
that would be prime viewing time
just try to get away from city lights as much as possible
Gonna drive up into Squamish valley, that should do it:
Just make sure you have a pretty unobstructed view of the horizon from the northeast to the south. So you'll probably want to get up on top of a mountain there if possible.
Ok, I realized after getting to a good spot around 11 that the peak is actually tomorrow night. So I saw a few meteors but decided to leave around 12:30 and instead head out there tomorrow night. Got my dates confuzzled.
Doesn't it peak over both nights? The 12th and the 13th?
while one can't predict exact numbers, expectations are that there will be roughly 2/3 as many tonight as tomorrow night since the shower peaks tomorrow afternoon
I saw a few, then got distracted when my cat managed to snake his way outside and started running off. I saw a couple darters, nothing really spectacular like the Leonids of '95 though.

saw some meteors, and that was cool
but came home early because I've got a headache that wasn't being improved by the two drunk women that were braying like donkeys nonstop for at least 30 min
Spent a couple of hours Wednesday night wandering around the hills trying to find somewhere not too light-polluted, but I think the sky was actually just too hazy to see anything - couldn't even spot stars. Last night was rainy, so if the sky clears tonight we might give it one final shot but otherwise I think the meteor-spotting is over for this year
I went to a park last night to watch it, but then a security guard kicked me out because apparently a kid got stabbed to death there a couple weeks ago.

best viewing is from 2 am to dawn
you won't see all that much before midnight
just so you know
I think 2 am is pretty dang doable for me
The light pollution makes it a bit tough in Hartford anyways.
Maybe I'll try some long exposure photos of the sky
We'll see
