PAX in August Please!!

Would you consider moving pax seattle back to august. I live in the UK and have friends in Bremerton, i visit every year during the summer school holidays (as i work in education) but have to leave normally on the last day of august to be back at work. I went to pax 08 but the last two pax's have been the first weekend of september.

To me it would logically make sense to have it in august while children are off from school and when most people are taking holidays from work. Maybe consider doing a poll/vote to see what people would prefer or alternating each year from the last weekend of august to the first weekend of september.

Given the stated reasons for holding PAX on Labor Day weekend I doubt it will change.

The decision to hold PAX on Labor Day weekend going forward is threefold:

1. Given 70% of attendees are coming in from out of town, it allows for 1 extra day of travel as opposed to rushing back on Friday night.
2. Seattle (despite Bumbershoot being that same weekend) is actually dead in terms of out-of-town travel on Labor Day Weekend. What this means is we're able to negotiate hotel room rates at much more aggressive rate than the week before - we're literally talking a difference of hundreds of dollars for the weekend for attendees.
3. Because most conferences/trade shows are business-to-business, we're actually able to get the space we need as opposed to being crammed in with another large show.

No thank you, keep it Labor Day weekend. Much easier to plan in advance for all of us also. When we're selecting vacation dates at the beginning of the year we don't have to say "Uh... some weekend in August, dunno yet."

There are many reasons that PAX is Labor Day weekend. Barring some unforeseen catastrophe, it is unlikely to change anytime soon.
