Yeah so Borderlands runs beautifully on my machine @ 1680 x 1050 with all the visual specs maxed out.

Only I could fry an egg on the case right now.

I'll figure out all this "online gaming" later.

Just got my PS3 controller working on Windows 7 as well.

    Borderlands here I come.

What hardware/programs/drivers are you using to use a PS3 controller with your PC?

I'd love to play Darksiders on my PC, and then be able to gift someone TQ Gold (which I already got for $5 off D2D way back), but I honestly can't imagine playing a Devil May Cry/Zelda style game with KB&M.

I can't wait to see the Ninja Assassin Claptrap in the next DLC. I really hope they cheese it up. They should make it like you are fighting Yoda.

I wonder if they'll have something in the DLC for the Claptraps you rescue in the rest of the game. Perhaps if you rescue enough of them, they'll swarm you like the others at first but then they'll turn away and herd the others off a cliff. Something like that.

Ok fine, I broke down and got this. I had the old retail copy. Can I just copy the old installation to the steam directory and make it update the relevant files, or is that gonna cause Bad Things to happen? I don't wanna download 9GB =/

Edit, so it looks like I have to validate my game over and over to up the percentage. This is annoying. But I go up like 20MB-60MB every time, and it takes like a minute, which is ok speeds.

Gah! I bought all the DLC and my Borderlands DL dove from 97% to 65%. Why couldn't they cop out like every other developer and have the dlc already included in the main game!!

Just bought Moxxi which I had been unsure of after I learned it gives more skill points. I think I will play a hunter... anyone high level want to run me through some stuff? Or is that a bad way to start.

    I spent all day downloading this game, and when I tried to run, it crashes and gives me a general protection fault error. I've tried fixing it to no avail. What a sad day. ;_;

The FOV thing totally isn't worth doing.

It resets anytime the game changes your FOV, getting in a vehicle, shops, whatever.

It's more of a hassle than anything.

Even though I already own it for 360, I think me and my wife are gonna hook up that Steam deal. One question: do mods to the game work in Steam? I saw a bunch of custom maps and quests in development on the gearbox forums and don't want to miss out on them.

EDIT: Also, we should be able to use our 360 controllers with the game, right?

I'm not sure about mods, but the 360 controllers will work fine as long as you have a wired controller or the receiver. I have a wired one & it is plug & play, works great.

I used these drivers and this faq to get my PS3 controller working with Windows 7. It performs flawlessly. The only problem I was having last night with Borderlands is I haven't figured out how to map multiple keys to a button, so navigating menus is a huge pita and ends up requiring the keyboard or mouse- though I suspect that's a problem common to all gamepads?

I ended up using the controller, except for intense firefights where I used my left hand with the left analog stick to move, and my right hand with my mouse to aim / shoot.

Okay, I already had a retail copy, but none of the DLC, so I broke down and picked up a 4 Pack and all the DLC. I gifted one to my son already (and bought him all the DLC!) and a friend is getting another copy. So, I have one more copy available if anyone wants it. $7.50, if you're interested. Just PM me and we can arrange things.

Oh, on a related note: Anyone know if theres any tricks required to use my retail character saves on the steamed version?

I just did this last night, and posted about it, but yeah, it saw my saved games just fine. The weird thing was that it didn't pull my settings over automatically, resolution/graphics options, keybindings, that sort of thing. So I had to re-set those up (twice, but that's because when I was done, I uninstalled my old retail version and that wiped out my settings.)

So the consensus is to skip Moxxi unless you're hardcore into BL? I know it's only $3.39, but no reason to waste money :P

You can, indeed, edit guns, but they must be legal.

If you need some guns to help get you going again, I can help. I have a stockpile of nice guns in my bank, including like 3 hellfires, all of which are at least alright.

If I don't have an ammo regen mod I usually put a point into Supply Drop. If that doesn't fit my build then I will just put points in Stockpile and keep an eye out on my ammo.

I just wish the two skills above Supply Drop weren't mostly useless. Turret cooldown is sometimes nice I guess.

Zombie Island and Knoxx are both great.

There are no broken or worthless classes but I think it's generally accepted that Siren is closest to "broken" as there is.

They're all good and viable. I expect some further talent balancing with the new DLC coming because some classes with 10 extra talents will be broken if they remain as is.

10 skillpoints was a typo, it's only going to be 2.

For a soldier, I found that 4/5 stockpile, 5/5 deploy, 1 refire and 1 supply drop kept me in the ammo fine when I was a heavy gunner, but you need to be shitting out that turret about as fast as it cools down.

Also I'd like to be cool enough for the steam group
