Nuts. Steam said I already have the GotY edition of Borderlands so I thought that meant I also got access to all the DLC (I only just checked on this yesterday or something). I was thinking I might actually have to give Gearbox a second chance for releasing a game with completely useless coop mode (which is the whole reason I originally bought it), but I guess not.

    Pity.

Yeah, I've played it all coop and the while there's a few glitches (some of which seem like they didn't even play test it much) none of them are game breaking.

Oops, sorry, my mistake. I forgot to specify that the coop was horribly broken at release. And broken long enough for me to beat the game twice as Lilith and get a Brick up to level 50 (which was the max at release). Considering that I bought the game to play with my brother in the Navy who I only get to see a couple times a year, it was a pretty colossal fuck-up on the part of Gearbox. Enough to turn me off to Borderlands, which is good fun otherwise.

well, tonight was quite awesome in terms of loot

i faced crawmerax on my brick for the first time

had some friends to help take him down, and he drops an undertaker

    second run we do

    he drops a tsunami

not to mention good havocs, awesome panaceas, and great brick bombardier mods

still on the lookout for a good blast hammer, though :\

Shhhh, it knows your looking, and will continue to give you everything but what you actually want.

I really need to fire this up again, but I have been so proud of myself for actually finishing some of my backlog, but the backlog can wait, it will always be waiting.

Many apologies if this is covered somewhere and I missed it, but help a noob out: I have an ATI 5770 and just picked this up - it's the first game I've tried that I can't run at 1080, full everything. On full settings I was getting 19-20 fps, and I'd like to get closer to 30. I backed off on the resolution a little, but was wondering if there were some bang-for-the-buck video settings that help more than others when turned off.

Thanks, I did try that and it helped a little. I still feel like there's something not quite right though. Even with AI turned off, backing off to somethingx900 resolution, turning off a few details I'm still only getting 25 fps or so, which is okay but I kind of expected better. FWIW I can run Batman:AA at 1080 full no problems at all, and I'd put those games at least in the same ballpark as graphics.

Right now I am running Combat Rifle but I will probably switch back to Shotguns soon. Found my first support gunner mod I was quite happy when I got it.

I have someone I play with so I'm trying to get to stat as soon as possible. Then I am going to alternate between cauterize, defense and impact.

Also, am I right in thinking you're better off skipping boosting the turret unless you're going for damage boosts or are running supply drop? Aid and Resupply seem to be marginally useful for the points I put into it. For healing Cauterize and Stat just seem better and for Ammo the same with Support Gunner mod and/or Supply Drop.

Sorry for the noob questions but I'm rather late to the party here.

i had a lot of issues with my 5770 and borderlands.

i would get all sorts of crashing. i think i have it set now at prettty much max settings, except i have the foliage turned off/down since supposedly there was ram leak through that.

i also have my fans a bit higher than normal.

haven't had a crash since, though the new drivers are a lot better. i keep meanign to turn down my fans since its really loud now but never want to open up my case

Which healing is better depends partially on what your party makeup is like, I think. If you're running with a team, I'd avoid Stat because then your allies have to run around following you to gain any benefit. Speaking as a sniper Mordecai, fuck that. Cauterize depends on what weapons you're using, as well. It's going to be less useful the more close-range or inaccurate your weapons are, unless all your teammates are also going to charge in beside you.

Yes, they have level. You can tell what it is by the level requirement or the binary in the item name when you pick them up. The item names in the inventory aren't actually the full names. As far as I know, the full names are only shown in the messages for when you pick up stuff.

It's probably the scaling patch at work. What's the average level of your enemies? Make sure you have fire gun (3 or 4X), some kind of incendiary grenade mod, and set your action skill to fire elemental. That should dispatch both the zombies and wereskags fairly easily.

EDIT: Also, get a shield that is resistant to acid damage.

Most regular zombies seem to be L54-56. I'm using a L35 Hellfire now, with L42 incendiary betties and L5 incendiary return as a Lilith.
Also using a L54 1.2k shield with health regen, though one hit from a zombie almost drains the shield completely, and 2 hits puts me halfway dead in health.
I'm still having fun, but holy shit does it take a damn month to kill a wave of zombies/defilers.

Maybe i'm just in dire need of a new Hellfire or something. Or maybe the DLC with scaling is now intended to be mplayer, and not solo'd.

Yeah, a better hellfire would be good. Strategy-wise, be cognizant of spawn points and keep moving if a group gets too close. Try switching to a shotgun at close range. You might also look at re-speccing to emphasize elemental damage, RoF, and/or phasewalking more often.

So I've been looking into getting this and thought I'd throw out a couple questions to anyone that's willing to answer.

I'll probably pick up the GOTY version, but I'm reading stuff about SecuROM and activation limits. One choice I have is to order it through amazon (on sale now for $30), but I'll probably be replacing my desktop soon-ish. Does the Steam version have these issues as well?

Also, how active is the PA community?
