That tralier was super duper scripted - to the max!
Game looks great - like a real sequel to Bioshock - but nothing new in terms of gameplay. Out of the 3 plasmid powers I saw used by the player, 1 was from the first game, and the other two are powers from other videogames.
Looks like the "partner" is a bunch of scripted events, instead of an AI partner. So not really a partner at all.
So, Bioshock, but in a new setting, with "new" plasmids. Sounds like a pretty straightforward sequel.
Oh fuck, I just learned that Stephen Russell (Also known as Garrett) does the voice of Booker DeWitt. This is way more exciting than that dumb video!
I was literally about to post the idea that he sounded like him. His gravelly " gotta find her " at the start sounded very Garrett.
Nifty.
Honestly, that voice was the most thrilling part of the trailer. I'm not saying the whole thing didn't look great and I can't wait to get my hands on it - just that that was a particular, delightful surprise.

Yeah, my first thought at the beginning was "Is that Garrett?" but he didn't really sound like him later on. Probably because you don't usually hear Garrett yelling or anything like that.

The gameplay video was great and best of all it has Garret from Thief doing the voice acting. I loved how intense the action in the game looked as well.
I will be glad if even a quarter of that stuff can be actually done in game.
Some speculation (minor Bioshock 1 spoilers):
In that Bioshock was really about the facade of nonlinerity and choice in video games, Bioshock Infinite seems to be about bluring the line between NPC and enemy. In the trailer, NPCs range from creepy but harmless to screeching demons. They can get alot of milage out of it if they do it right.
When I heard of Bioshock 3, I figured "Hey, more of the same, but different." Completely understanding and acknowledging that was utterly and entirely scripted, that was utterly fantastic.
This is going on the top of my list of awaited games.

The combat looked very fun from what I could see, especially given how early in development the game is. Being able to punt doods off the side was a good touch.

Bioshock is one of those games that proves there's absolutely nothing wrong with a game that's 90% scripted. So long as it's scripted well
it's like they took all the major setpieces they're working on throughout the game and just crammed them into one ten-minute demo like "sure, why not?"
I don't know how effectively they can establish the protagonist's identity with dialogue from the first person. All of that banter just felt weird to me, like a disembodied voice.
Still, looks all manner of fun, even if it just a proof of concept video.

You know for me, it felt weird for the first few lines, but after that it clicked and I just started wondering why more games haven't played around with it.
during the battle at the end it worked perfectly, made you feel like part of a team that knew what it was doing with the whole bridge thing, not just another blank slate who needs to be dragged through everything

Have you ever played a Thief game? I would suggest doing so.
I'm conflicted about Infinite. I see a great opportunity for a pure steampunk style. At first, I thought the powers he was wielding were coming out of his sleeve ala whatever that rail-riding-thing was. Which, for me, would've been pretty damn cool. Steam-powered electro-death? Yes please.
Disappointed its looking like just more genetics.
Also amazingly disappointed by the flying big daddy. I was glad to see they had a surrogate Big Daddy, with the enforcers, and weren't just going to make them a cosmetic change. Then we get a whale noise and something that looks exactly like a big daddy, except with a hawk head and wings.
Otherwise my mind is blown, especially by hearing Garret. I look forward to blunderbore'ing folks in the face.

Yeah, I think he looks awesome and will make a very good overall antagonist. He does not feel like a big daddy in the least to me, because it seems he is more an overall unique antagonist. Not something you kill by spawning in a vita chamber and charging at him with a wrench repeatedly.
Also, I hope vita chamber like concepts die in a fire here. If you die, you should damn well die.

Why? They added the turn of Vita chamber option for Bioshock, why not just have both

To be honest, that's not they way you kill any of the enemies in Bioshock.
The "quick auto load" concept had nothing wrong with it. If you want to have to constantly save your game or risk being thrown back an hour+ worth of game play, that's your problem. Don't sugest that those of us with better things to do with our time (like play the actual game rather than manage load screens) have to subscribe to your wishes. If they have vita chamber mechanics, then just save your bloody game on a constant basis any ways, and reload it when you die. Punish yourself, not every one else.

You never watched my flatmate play Bioshock obviously. I think that's how he dealt with the vast majority of the game.
They are saying that video is gameplay, right? Because I can't imagine a human playing through that section and having it look anything like that.
It's extremely heavily scripted and acted out, but what they are showing is all stuff that happens in engine and could happen in gameplay. I especially love the ability to summon a horde of crows on the enemy. The only thing that disappointed me was seeing the lightning plasmid and such effectively back. I was hoping they'd have temporary powers through tonics (like the crow tonic) or have some steampunk contraptions to do the same role of plasmids.
But we're all agreed that the skyhooks are fucking badass, right?
Because they're fucking badass.
No arguments over here. The way they seem to work in that Gameplay video makes it look like the game will be more open-worldish. Has that been rebuked/discussed already?

Untill then, little movies-masquerading-as-gameplay just sort of make me weep. Look at the POTENTIAL.
And then I go, fuckit, I want to shoot murders of crows at dudes!
