    Seems like the fact that he hasn't been to court is a good sign rather than a worrying one. If they don't intend to charge him, seems more likely they'll just deport him.

    For some reason this made me remember those people who got arrested in Haiti because they basically kidnapped an entire orphanage. I wonder if their leader is still in prison there.

    They took 33 children from an aid station without state permission, then it turns out none of them were even orphans. They were taking them to the Dominican Republic.

    How are the two things even relevant to each other? Saudi Arabia does not proclaim a freedom of religion in the core tenants of their constitution, the US does.

    So Jake's mom spoke with his lawyer. He confirmed that Jake is being fed and given a daily shower so that's a relief. However, he will be in jail until at least Monday, with no charges, even though legally they should have charged or released him by now. This could mean they're detaining him until they have deportation orders in hand. So please, write to the Turkish Embassy asking for his safe release.

    I wouldn't be too worried about his conditions while in jail.

    A) If the state department is already involved they will be keeping a good eye on the situation

    B) Turkey is trying to get into the EU; they can't afford an international scandal like an American Human rights reporter being subject to absolutely hellish conditions.

    The concern over the conditions stemmed from them holding him without any contact for over 27 hours before his lawyer was allowed to finally see him. So now that his lawyer is able to see him and can let us know what's going is a big step forward.
