Fog hangs just above the tents of the encampment in the cool early morning. A few campfires still burned softly in fire pits strewn about as soldiers begin to wake for the days assignments. One of the abodes is still occupied and alive with activity and had been for some time. A badly bruised man with a rag tied in his mouth was bound to a chair as three guards took turns beating him with their bare fists. The man only grunted in response while eying the guards madly.
As the tent flap opened letting in the outside light the guards hesitated and turned around to see a tall man clad in bright shining plate mail armor glowering at the scene and stepping inside with a loud clank. “Stand down you three, this man is accused of treason and murder and I’ll not have you putting him out before I’ve had a word with him.”
The guards lower their fists and stand sharply at attention behind the man as he strides towards the prisoner. “You killed one of my best Lieutenants, sergeant. Which of the Orlesian scum guzzling Wardens put you up to it? Who wants to invade my homeland?” The wild eyed man only stares back. “Your lack of cooperation will only lead to more of the same you just had. Tell me, and I can assure you a pain free execution.”
Another figure who had been sitting in a chair in a dark corner of the tent stood up and spoke, startling the mail clad man, “He is no traitor to you or your newly established throne Commander. He is tainted by the Darkspawn.” The dark figure casually strolled up and produced a dagger in a flash and slashing the man’s cheek.
The Commander drew his sword in an instant and brought it to bear at the dark figure’s neck. “I’ll not have you killing your agents to prevent my investigation Warden.” The Warden smirked and nodded his head to indicate the prisoner that now had black sludge oozing from his cheek where the cut was made. The Commander lowered his sword and took a step back, “By the Maker…we kill him and burn the body quickly before it spreads more.”
The Warden made his way back to his seat before adding nonchalantly, “It already has Commander. It already has…”
The Commander sheathes his sword and motions the guards to untie the man. “This does not alleviate my suspicions of you Warden, but you will find the others and produce them to me for execution. In fact, I shall enlist some help for you. Guards, take this man to the gallows and one of you remove his head. Deliver a message that there are Darkspawn tainted traitors in their midst, and they are to produce them to me to be executed at sundown. One man each day until the taint is gone.”
The Warden glares at the Commander while quietly speaking, “This will incite panic, your men will slay each other before I have a chance to find all of the tainted.”
The Commander smirks back at the Warden as he turns to leave and stops in the flap of the tent, “Then the strong will sort themselves from the weak. I suggest you get to work Warden, lest you let my army dwindle to nothing.”
Day 1 ends at 4pm PST. Make your red vote to send a soldier to be executed. Role PMs are going out now, be patient please.
