1. LW and CB + a silencer is the ONLy way to use a UMP. Or Hardline, I guess.
2. You can't have RPG's on an OMA class.
pwn'd
lolz, shows how much i know about OMA. i switched it to scav once i figured that out. but now it doesnt matter, cuz i hit the prestige button like an idiot. first match i went 37-10 and went up to lvl 6, which felt pretty nice, but i still have a looooong ass way to go before i get my CB and my stinger back. the extra slot will be nice though, i guess.
Yay for cars made when you could still look under the hood and see a goddamned engine. Now it's plastic covers on top of urrythang.
You can see this one's clear as day. My dad and I were debating putting a 460 with a diesel turbo in it, ~600 HP and 800 lb-ft of torque, but we'd get 8 MPG max out of it.
And no, I didn't buy it. My mom pretty much was like "I don't like any of the used cars we were looking at and the F-150 is the safest full-size truck on the road, so we're getting that"
I was waging a war for this thing, a 1995 Lightning that my dad has
[IMG][/IMG]
But dear mother said "fuck that"
ANYWAYS this is a successfully derailed thread, so how bout dem UMPs?
Thread derails (unlike the map!) are fun...
That said, the early 21st century Lightning is still one of my favorite vehicles ever. Mmm.
Derail's only redeeming feature is farming FMJ kills through the windows (both in the middle building and in the building in the back corner with the sniper deck) and through the outside walls of the middle building as people look out the windows. When I'm looking for FMJ kills, Derail is actually one of the maps I hope for (although out of the FMJ maps, Terminal / Rundown / SubBase / Skidrow / Estate, it's easily my least favorite).

Wait. So, this is the NEW thread we're using? The other has been left for good? Just checking.
Yes. Threads are only allowed to reach 100 pages (due to page loading times). After that a new thread is created. This in like the 6th or 7th thread I think.
Since I started doing them there have been 11 by me. This isn't including the ones done by Scat, Lookfree or Willeth (I think that's everyone).

I've done three, I think. There's probably been about 20 threads for this game.
On that note, does anyone want to play a few? I'm on a high from some SC2 wins and feel like destroying my good mood.
Inclusion of Chopper Gunner is beyond lame. To be honest, killstreaks should have just been unchanged from CoD4. The Call of Duty series has some of the best feeling shooting mechanics of any contemporary FPS, why do they constantly feel the need to add gimmicky kill streaks?

Because gimmicks are fun. Apaches are only a threat if your entire team is retarded and doesn't shoot it down in 15 seconds.
I'm taking a 360 break to play some SC2 actually, but I'll hop on later if you all have a party going. It's been awhile since I played MW2.

Also, if Juggernaut is replacing Stopping Power then, same dif? People really hated it in CoD4, and judging by the complaints about its limited form as Painkiller in MW2, everyone still hates it.
But the thing is, the only reason you should need juggernaut in the first place is to counteract stopping power. If there's no stopping power or equivalent then just balance the game.

I may be a too much of a purist, but CoD was always a fantastic first person shooter. Things like rc car remote bomb and chopper gunner just seem tacked on when the base shooting mechanics are so solid.
Maybe I'll have enough saved by then to afford Blops. Maybe not.

But yeah. That list of rumours was like just getting to the top of a mountain (No SP!)...and then tumbling right back down (Juggernaut is back). The only difference between the two is when someone's trying to pick you off before you can hide, or they're the ones ducking to cover. That's nice, but in face-offs it's same shit, different shovel.
So I guess it's not as bad as SP but it's still a perk that simply makes you better at trading bullets. I've siad it before, but I don't believe in any perk that makes you better at simply standing there and hoping your bullets/projectiles will get there faster than his. SP, DC, Juggernaut - all should be cut. There'd be cooler customisations when people don't have to sacrifice a perk slot just to keep up.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
The thing about Jugs was that it gave you 125% health. Stopping Power made you do 40% more damage per round. They cancelled each other out - Juggernaut made you fire one more round to kill someone, and SP made you fire one less. They were "balanced" in a numerical sense, but when people get used to shooting non-jugs, they get pissed when they stop shooting out of habit and don't kill the guy, then die to him.
Just out of curiousity, has Treyarch revealed the time period Blops will span?
I'm assuming it's a fairly wide stretch of time, as the AUG, FAMAS, and some other stuff that's definitely in the game are absurdly anachronistic to the late 60's.
perks are an integral part of MW2 and COD4 and what made them different from all the other shooters out there: you could "customize" not just your loadout, but your character. Saying we should get rid of them is like saying it should just be like halo... and I like halo for when I want to play a halo like game.
I just masted the P90 and now I can't wait to run around with them blinged for Akimbo and Extended mags and laugh at how many bullets I can lay down in no time at all. It will be so much fun no matter how much I may suck while doing it.

keep stopping power I say.
I'm not saying jettison perks - just the ones that make you out and out better at the most basic point of shooters (shooting and getting shot). Those perks generally take over until "customisation" is what you do with your other perk slots because you can't afford to not have Jugs or SP or whatever. Those kinds of perks can ruin the whole perk system. SP isn't terribly OP in MW2, but it's still by far the most common 2nd perk.
Basically, perks should be bonuses to a playstyle, not the playstyle (shooting people).

"Cold War Era". So late 40s to early 90s. The anachronisms are annoying, yes, but at this point I should know better than to expect it to make too much sense.
But the thing is, the only reason you should need juggernaut in the first place is to counteract stopping power. If there's no stopping power or equivalent then just balance the game.
Honestly, Juggernaut never really bugged me. Even without Stopping Power, it's what? One, two more bullets?
Of seven kits, I have five with SP. The two without are UMP classes, of course: one with cold blooded because it's my stinger class, and one with lightweight because, well, there's really nothing like a witch class for ruining someone's day. The only other time I could even imagine forsaking SP is for DC/OMA/toobz, which rates substantially below even pre-nerf dog rape in terms of intolerable bullshit in MW2 so fuck that noise. I will be thrilled if stopping power doesn't show up in any form (I'll be extra-pissed if there's an attachment version, because then it's gonna be nothing but iron sights for me) in blops.
You can't have a perk that reduces damage, so what do you do when you want people to sacrifice damage for another ability? You make that perk the baseline. Stopping power is the first red perk you get, and thus it becomes the baseline.
This is why leaving Juggernaut in by itself is silly.

An attachment would be even worse than you think: with jugs as a perk and SP as an attachment, the baseline is having both. Even fewer customisation 'choices'! Hopefully Treyarch aren't that dumb.
My story in MW2 is similar, but not as dramatic. I started off downright avoiding SP because it seemed boring (be a normal soldier...but better!) but after too many face-off deaths I've backslid on that: sometimes you just need SP. Now 3-4 of my 7 usually have it. Things are in a state of flux, but it never drops below 3 and I refuse to be boring and go past 4.
Which proves the point: even people who'd prefer not to use SP will take it just to have good games.

Gotcha. If the game covers that vast a time period then weapons like the FAMAS G2 and AUG aren't totally ridiculous.

My understanding is that there was nothing depicting conflicts beyond the Vietnam War, due to the agreements with the prior heads of Infinity Ward.
EDIT: Indeed. From West and Zampella's lawsuit:
"[...] To induce West and Zampella to create a game they had no obligation to create and to extend an Employment Agreement that was just months from expiring, Activision made several important promises in the MOU [Memorandum of Understanding]. First, the MOU gives West and Zampella creative authority over the development of any games under the Modern Warfare brand (or any Call of Duty game set in the post-Vietnam era, the near future or distant future) including complete control over the Infinity Ward studio. The MOU explicitly provides that no such game can be commercially released without the written consent of West and Zampella.[...]" (emphasis mine)
The fact that Activision has pretty much said that they're working on MW3 is... yeah. I know that we all know that they're dicks, but still - fuck.
