In linguistics, prosody (pronounced /ˈprɒsədi/, PROSS-ə-dee) is the rhythm, stress, and intonation of speech.
In other words, your prosody does not change much unless you put effort into changing the automatic way you produce speech. It's the distinctive flow of sound a persons voice makes.
Lyrical means you can put words together into pleasing and artistic ways. It's a creative thing.
As an example, my own voice has a variable prosody. The way that I enunciate syllables and whole sentences can completely change depending on my mood and how much attention I am paying to speaking "clearly".
I'm trying to control the mechanical way in which I produce speech in order to prevent myself from doing that too much.
It's really hard.
My voice is such a cluster fuck. I'm hoping as I keep practising by doing let's plays I will end up with a less variable voice that is easier to listen to.

By speaking much faster, so its voice recognition software overloads its processor?
I never thought about the whole prosody thing... I always assumed it was normal for people to speak differently when they are emotionally "charged". (oh god, enough with the robot references already!)
With me it's even weirder; depending on what particular phrases I use in a particular context my accent changes completely sometimes. I have confused people on more than one occasion, because in my first sentence I sounded Scandinavian, then British, then German, then American.

So despite having made a fairly sizeable LP myself, I haven't actually watched that many LPs. I want to remedy this. Can you guys recommend some LPs for me, from this forum or otherwise?
I usually like informative VLPs with voice-commentary (with hopefully some humor), but SSLPs are good if they are extremely good (like, Animal Crossing quality).
The things I've finished watching/reading:
Josh's VVVVVV and IWBTG LPs
Rent's Alan Wake LP and his ongoing Nier LP (<3 u Rent)
and like one okay'ish Demon's Souls LP on YouTube
Things I've not yet finished watching/reading:
Adus's FFVII LP and GTA IV LP
NinjaSnarl's STALKER and Crysis stuff
SA's Animal Crossing LP
Kung Fu Jesus's Godhand LP
SA's Demon's Souls LPs

thanks for the suggestions. I've kinda wanted to do one myself, but I have no idea where to begin, and I've seen a few good ones, so the bar is set kinda high. I have no desire to fail
I was going to bring up my list of LP recommendations I made earlier in the thread, but then I remembered that this forum won't let me search for posts anymore. So I guess not.
I second the X-com LP's on the archive, my personal favorite being Terror From the deep, though that's mostly video.
If you're looking for video, then I HIGHLY recommend the Deadly Premonition LP, currently being done by supergreatfriend on SA. The game itself is an amazing, surreal experience, and SGF's commentary is spot on. The thread has also generated some of the best fanart I've ever seen.

Watch anything chip and ironicus ever do
they're like me and earwig squad but like, better in every way
Don't forget to check out their New Super Mario Bros Wii LP either. It never fails to be anything other than absolutely hilarious.
So it's never hilarious?
Wow.
I apparently fail at totally basic English. Idiotic mistake now fixed.
Hot damn, that took me a few tries to realize why it was wrong.
Was it incorrect? I mean, if it never fails to be anything but absolutely hilarious, that means its NOT hilarious, because it's ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS?? Or am I crazy...?:?
I'll be uploading a set for it later tonight as well
Helloween, some of your Call of Cthulhu videos have been blocked on YouTube in my region (Scandahoovia) on copyright grounds; the labeling seems utterly random, but there you go. Is it in any way feasible for you to mirror your LP elsewhere?
docfuture/RobotnikDDS and taxidermistpasta are probably the two LPers that I would probably bother watching a LP over at SA at this point. Too bad they haven't done/won't do anything in forever.

If it never fails at being anything other than absolutely hilarious, then it always succeeds at being anything other than absolutely hilarious, then it is never absolutely hilarious.
docfuture has only ever done a few anyway, hasn't he?
Yes, but the effort he puts into them is staggering. For some reason people acted like Trespasser was the first LP to ever have really good editing, but Sonic 2 Special Edition was almost a year before that. I mean [vidurl="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4177439402347717685&hl=en#"]look at this quick bonus video. This was from '07.[/vidurl] So when people started praising Trespasser for how amazing the editing and crap was I was pretty sad that people just seemed to forget about Docfuture's stuff. He was always putting weird things in the background or making weird meta-thread stuff like his Helter Skeeter channel.
Oh yeah, there was insane amounts of editing in Sonic 2 Special Edition, that thing was just nuts on multiple levels. I guess I mainly said that because I was wondering if he had done any more that I didn't know about.
Hmm, I don't think I actually watched his Sunday School LP. I'll have to watch it at some point.
I'll be uploading a set for it later tonight as well

Which videos in are doing it? I'll see what the issue is and if I can, host them elsewhere.
Fishmen 3 is the only one that triggered it this time around, I could've sworn that one of the Yithian episodes were blocked the last time I tried but I guess I was drunk at the time? Anyway, thank you so much for your time.

I once read the entire Wikipedia article on Ampersands because of this man.
And his accent.
South Park reference not serious statement yo
I'm too hip and culturally relevant at the moment, it's hurting my communication.
I mentioned it because I find it interesting and relevant.
It wasn't a literal reply it was me going off on a tangent in response.
It looks the same but this is because replying to a joke with something serious that was triggered by the joke is hard to explain yknow.
how do we stop it from assimilating humour

Aces Wild is a pretty stellar game.

Hell the X-Com LPs alone is something like a six hour read and somewhat tied together by the author(s).

The four Deception LPs at SA are great, because no one ever played those games.
Uh, the only video LPs I've seen here are Kas'. My attention span is too short for VLPs, most of the time.
The lunatic who LPed Deceptions 1-4 takes on the original trap game, and the reason ratings exist.
Check out Helloween's LPs, they are always good fun.
Don't watch Klyka's LPs they're too full of TIME QUAD and explosions to be anything other than overstimulating
(it was just a clever way of putting my huge "MY LET'S PLAYS RIGHT HERE" signature on this page)

I kid, I kid, It was actually that the game just didn't seem that interesting, you're Nier one however will definitely get watched. Hard. Probably.
Adus mentioned the Freelance Astronauts. Here's a good reason why.
