Back from tinkering on my computer. My failing backup HDD was finally causing rampant problems today so I had to remove it. I pulled a bunch of shit off it to my main drive after saving the utmost important stuff to a USB device I have, and that was a total pain in the ass. It would operate, then pause, then operate, then pause. Not all files / folders were accessible and thus save-able, so that sucked. But at least all my LP stuffs are saved! Yay!
That thing was fucking burning hot when I was pulling it from its slot in the PC case. Goddamn.
Well I guess I don't subscribe to the way the majority thinks. If there's a show I follow, I typically eagerly await the return, not stop caring.
Oh wait, wait. I'm sorry. It's cause you said something about it being basically dead due to a mixture of things, like not getting anyone but Owenashi and Klyka to do sets while they had their own shit going on.
I guess it's more like that last season of 7th Heaven. I thought it was dead so I stopped.
I'll be honest, I kind of felt the same way cooljammer did. But I kept watching anyways, which is something I DON'T regret. The commentary got a lot better towards the end (except for episode 61, which was... different), and the slowmotion extras were quite funny as well.

honestly speaking, inconsistency with an update schedule is the #1 killer of LPs, just like any media
you could have a fuzzy, interlaced, shitty audio, 10 fps, piece of shit handcam lp of sonic 1, but people will watch it if you update every day. guaranteed.

Speaking of update frequency, do people really feel it's better to update as frequently as possible? Because I try to update 2-3 times a week regularly, but I've always felt doing more than that means people will get so far behind they won't want to watch an LP any more.
But I just might be crazy. And I would feel dumb if I've been completely wrong and I could update as much as I want every week and it be better than the 2-3 times a week thing.
It was a mistake of me to choose such a long game and expect people to comment with me throughout the whole thing. People I had never spoken with before, at least. The reason things like the Doctor Roosevelt San Andreas LP worked or the Freelance Astronauts is because those people are good friends and can sort of prod them at any time to do a video.
My relationship with the other commentators wasn't quite that strong, at least at first. So I didn't feel comfortable just saying "hey you free? let's record a video" so then it had to be scheduling times, which I hadn't planned for. Naturally it burned some people out. Then it burned me out trying to keep it going.
However I think when it came back we were all refreshed and a combination of that and the videos being more entertaining (as the videos in the 30's and 40's were admittedly pretty dull) it became more what I had hoped. I honestly think the last 20 or so videos are the best of the whole LP.
In the end, Owenashi and Klyka really spent a lot of their time helping me on it and I really appreciate it, so I'm glad it could be completed so we all felt good about the entire thing. Though if I ever choose to LP another game in that format, I'll obviously take some precautions. Like all of my LP's so far, it has been a learning experience. After FFVII, I wondered if I should have just quit because I didn't like what came out of my Ep 2 and SR2 LPs, but I'm glad I at least got GTA done.

quite honestly speaking I severely dislike LPs with random co-commentators, because usually what happens is everyone awkwardly waits for everyone else to talk and there's this sort of weird lulls that keep on happening as everyone is kind of unsure what to do or say or how to interact
It's worse when a "superstar" LPer or whatever takes random co-commentators because then there's the expectation and the intimidation factor as well
I mean, over the internet co-commentators work, but you should really just stick with one or two and go the whole lp with them, not just an episode or two

...ohhhhhhhhhh. So THAT'S why the LP thread hasn't had any new posts in a month.
Good thing I actually read the title of that thing finally or else I might never have noticed since it's not locked or that close to 100 pages or anything.
So um...how's things?

Nothing stopping you from asking the mods if they care to sticky it or think it should be. I don't care either way. But I do appreciate the sentiment about how useful this thread is!
Also apologies Schide. I jumped the gun on making this replacement thread because I got scared about getting jailed (again) and was like "Oh fuck I won't be able to make the thread." But now that I think about it, I could've sworn my last post in the previous iteration was the "HAY GUYS NEW THREAD" warning. You have nobody to blame but yourself!

This thread is quite useful, but going from memory I don't think it ever gets buried too far on the forum.

Just out of curiosity but could you explain why?
The same reason why TV shows have traditionally lower ratings once they return from winter break?

Maybe I'm just a LP auteur or something, but I like to have tight control over the commentary that exists. It's why I edit so much.

But then in Ep XLVI.
