Don't torture yourself. These games aren't "hard", they're exercises in futility and memorization. You have to die to learn where all the traps are. There are no tells. Then you just move in a predetermined path. Anyone can win an IWBTG type game after dying a thousand times.

If it's alright, I'd like to recommend a Halo 1-3/ODST LP run done by a Youtuber named Ramza411sb. It's pretty cool in that he plays the games with a cousin of his named Devin (or TheMan as he so named his profile for the first game's LP) in split-screen co-op. For those who actually are interested in the story, Ramza bothers to cut off the mikes during the cutscenes which is a pretty nice bonus. Here's the first video of Halo 1's second level if you want to get an idea of how they work and talk.
I used that as my IM sound for the longest time when I first played MKR.

On a completely selfish tangent, I just realized that my update schedule has not been as stupid long between sets as I imagined. I'm about to start my next set and if I finish uploading it today/tomorrow that only makes it a month + a week since I last updated.

Admittedly, that's a pretty stupid wait

no it's pretty insanely long
anything longer than one update/week is long, and even one update/week update schedule is a pretty long wait between updates

I live in a world where people have shit to do and can't always commit to something like this faster than once a week, maybe bi-weekly. What world do you live in?

I don't think "I have shit to do" is a reasonable defense for not updating frequently
anyways I'm not talking about a week wait, I'm talking about a month and a half wait between updates
either way if you can't commit to a frequent update schedule, don't start an LP. It's that simple. It's completely optional whether or not to do an LP in the first place, and it's a very time-intensive job requiring a shitload of work behind the scenes
Saying "whelp I have a life" isn't a viable excuse to basically abandon your LP for long stretches of time
If you are you should at least have the courtesy to update your thread with a "well I gotta go because I have RL issues to take care of, my next post is going to be an update" or else we get threads like the nonsense that occurs with necro'd LPs from four months ago where the LPer has pretty obviously abandoned the LP, but we get goosen who post "WHERE IS THE UPDATES?!?!" every once in a while, which makes it that much harder for those of us who actually update our LPs in a timely manner to get views
times like this I really wish OPs could lock their own threads like in SA, so this whole problem could be circumvented

I hate having to repeat this for the 15th fucking time but sometimes people don't really get how much time you have to put into these things until they try it first hand.
And if you're worried about old, abandoned LPs because they sap your LP's views, you're kind of a silly goose.

On the bright side, I did just record what was more or less two sets in a row.
In regards to how long one should wait between sets, I was just saying that I'm glad my videos haven't reached "dead" level yet. I agree about a month (and a week) being an absurdly long wait time. Maybe not insanely long, but absurdly for certain. I'm not going to make excuses, but I am definitely going to do my best to cut down time. The only possible valid reason for a delay with the LP I'm doing is that I'm having people vote on the next level I'm doing, so I give people some time before I jump into the next level. That really shouldn't put time between sets more than a week and a half.
Honestly these LPs are not so much work-intensive as they are time intensive (giving me even less of an excuse eh?). What I mean by that is that the longest part of process is by far rendering and converting files. Editing is at least sort of fun and not too time-consuming. Waiting a day or more for videos to finish converting is the pain in the ass.

I think I will eventually LP this
But I'm torn on whether to do a blind run or play through it first to determine whether or not its beatable.
a blind run would be
uh
it'd be pretty awful on the part of the viewer
even though you edit the fuck out of your vids
I'd wait til you know it's beatable. Your understanding of the game and your word smithery is what makes your LPs so special. For me anyway.
EDIT: ...and it's not so much ice levels as you are made of slippery, easy to grind away, uncooked meat. =D

my colorblind burn was better
my 360 just gave me two red rings, which means it's overheating, which could mean that it's not gonna work no more
so possibly, my LP will be put on hold temporarily
luckily I already have three videos recorded plus tomorrow's update so at the least updates are stopping next thursday

That pretty much explained everything
I hope watching a split-screen co-op video isn't as bad as I'm imagining it will be.
I will add it to IWBTFG and Spelunky on my list of games to consider
Seriously though IWBTFG is kicking my damn ass
Ordinarily I have to actually "let loose" the creative swearing
It is pouring out of my mouth naturally this time and it's a shame it isn't being recorded
so he can mock you as you lp
