I recall the Master Chief and friends nabbing some Jackal shields when fighting hunters in one of the novels. Turns out when they overload the wrist attachment melts.

Bah. Details. For once, I want to know the joy of deflecting bullets with impunity rather than the frustration of aiming for little exposed notches to get through said shields.
I cannot wait to spend hours grinding credits. It would also amuse me if various armour pieces required odd things to unlock, like time spent in forge or firefight. It would be fun to see someone with a weird helmet and realize you should check his file share for a map or custom firefight setup.
Campaign: I really hope the last couple missions aren't about sacrificing noble team to get cortana to chief. Give me something original!

I'm pretty sure cortana was with the chief before the battle on Reach.

You probably just spoiled the whole game. Congrats. Except it wasn't cortana.

New xbox doesn't have party chat problem. I can play with you people without being paranoid again.
I'm almost considering seeing if it's possible for me to put the 120GB HDD in the Halo HDD case so that it still matches the disc tray. Bronze/gold trim ftw
The slim isn't mine. It was just visiting.
edit: aw damnit they're held together with Torx screws.

I just spent a bit reading up on the Spartan III page on the Halopedia.
Sending Spartan III's to thier death is apparently the norm :?

So my hype meter for Reach is going up everyday. It's reaching Halo 2 hype status. Halo 3 hype was pretty meh for me. But I'm really excited for this. Right now I have a pre-order for regular edition at Gamestop, but I'm at least upgrading to Limited, and even considering Legendary. 150 bucks for one game is so much though, but this is Reach we're talking about. Someone convince me to do it or talk me out of it.
Unless you reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly like Halo I would say Limited is just fine. You get sweet Elite armor and the Halsey journal.
I would only suggest Legendary if you reaallllly like Halo and want that statue and flaming armor helm for multiplayer (which I'm not going to even turn on until I see if people get their accounts stolen for having it) and the digital download of the Making Of material. +70$ for a Statue/Effect/MakingOf.
I'm telling you, the only reason I'm buying Legendary is because it's the last Bungie Halo game (or at least the last Bungie Halo for a long time). I'm only going to buy the normal edition of the first 343 Halo - they've got to earn my trust.
I (possibly) made the mistake of seeing the normal 360 Slim in my local gamestore. I fell in love with it so decided to cancel my Reach Slim and change it to a Limited order instead.
Glad I did. This thing is all kinds of quiet. Plus it gives me motivation to start adding people in time for Reach.

I'm kind of the same way. Being an accountant, I look at things on a cost:enjoyment ratio. If the ratio is greater than 1, I'm not happy. If it's less than 1, it was worth it.
Regarding the Halo series, I've spent literally thousands of hours playing between Halo 1, 2, 3, and ODST (between all 4 games, I've probably spent around $270 (including map packs)). I kind of owe it to Bungie to buy the legendary edition, simply because they've provided me so many moments of sheer joy, frustration, and escape from reality with their games.
Also because the statue is tits and will look badass on my bookshelf guarding my DVDs and books.

I never thought about my account being stolen for it. Crap. But then again, like you said, this is the last Bungie Halo game. Aahhhhh. What do I doooo? You brought up good points, but in the end, I'm still torn. A helmet didn't really appeal to me, but that statue thing is awesome.
The McFarlane Halo figures have pretty great sculpt and paint jobs. The only downside is that they're only about 5" tall, so they're a little bit on the short side.
But I've already ordered the 4-pack with Emile, Jorge, Elite and random Green Spartan.
Social engineering of Live support line, it's how people stole accounts that had Recon when only like 3 people had it. MS retrained their reps and changed how much info they could give out, but it still happens once in a while.
I'll just keep an eye out on it. If MS security policies fall like a house of cards again, I'll just wait a bit before turning it on. If I hear nothing, I'll turn it on and hope for the best (and then turn it off because i'm too visible)
But you can also apparently set up shit like a PIN tied to your phone and stuff, which I already did, which should make it really hard for someone to get enough details to take an account. I've been up on the front page quite a few times and I haven't had my account ganked

I'll just keep an eye out on it. It would be interesting if it was locked to your console, so that stealing an account that redeemed the flaming armor would be pointless.
Until people get your address and just break into your house and take your Xbox to get your fancy armor.

I got one of the Halo 2 era 8" ones, and bought one of the 5" ones for my recent vacation. I like the 8" one better, overall. Build quality on the 5" ones seems to be a bit poopy.. not all the joints fit together right. The 8" is unpainted and lacks detail. But it is built like a tank and the joints are awesome, which is why I prefer it.
I bought my step-son a remote control warthog for christmas or his birthday last year. We finally had a nice day to take it out this spring and he ran it into a sidewalk. The front axle snapped. Less than two minutes of enjoyment. If I buy any Halo merch it is going to be a grunt, or damn well better feature a grunt. Then if it breaks I can just say it's being authentic to the source material. My fiance bought me a hornet and I totally ignored the little megablocks chief guy that came with it and put on grunts on the side.
Seriously. I would buy a game called Halo: Grunt Rebellion for the name alone. Although Reach really makes me wish I could swipe one from the back and somehow ring it up early Damned Walmarts.

Yeah, I have some of the 8" figures, but I prefer McFarlane's due to paint and articulation, which I'll take over the size of the Joyride figures.
And McFarlane does a lot more with accessories, vehicles, etc.

I just watched the video with the Ivory Tower remake. That looks awesome. Even the rocket launcher is in the same place. For me, Halo 2 was the best, and Ivory Tower was the first map I played in Halo 2 so it holds a special place. I decided. I'm getting legendary. Bungie rocks, and I owe it to them.
edit: Which reminds me, has anything else been said about the special item that Bungie was going to give to anyone who played Halo 2 on the last day?
Reach? Sept. 14th. Where does it says it's released?
Oh, wait, now I get it. This is the Halo thread, and it was talking about ODST. I saw "Halo something is the newly released..." and assumed it was about Reach. There is non Reach stuff in here. Nevermind, sorry!

Coran Attack!
And even if I did, I'm not sure I would display it. Everyone that visits my house would be all "so uh, you like to play with dolls huh?"
Granted Reach Legendary looks much cooler, I'll pass.
Coran Attack!
But it's a statueeee (unless I'm mistaken) and they're making standalone Reach figures. http://www.spawn.com/toys/categorytype.aspx?categoryid=5
i fucking love dolls

Will be doing so as well. So keep an eye out for Ink Pouch.
You know you damned yourself to UPS losing it right? or even better you missing the delivery, or UPS just chucking it over the fence.
