The only thing I'm hoping isn't being glossed over is the mentioned framerate issues.
I like my games smoother than smooth.

I'm not a big fan of Kotaku, but I couldn't help but read their review.
So far nothing but praise. A couple AI issues but then again I suppose that's to be expected.

Those AI issues may not even be issues. Marines have been scripted to leave you to go on alone in past halo games so that could be whats happening.

That's what I'm hoping. I know ally AI wasn't the greatest in the Halo series, but it's easily overlooked.
It doesn't detract from the experience, not in the slightest.

That Kotaku Review was actually pretty good. I'm a big fan of Kotaku, their website is one of the best in the spectrum of game news websites.

They're the best of the worst

But that still makes them bad

I've completly forgiven marine AI since the covanent mission in halo 3. I reached the bit where you fight two scarabs and accidently got in the side seat of a friendly hornet. He flew me straight to the scarab and hovered over it. I jumped done and started its explosion sequence, walked back to the top and prepared to explode. To my surprise the marine was still hovering there, I jumped in a he flew me too the next one and did the same. Tried it again and the same thing happened.

    It was awesome.

Holy shit, the AR is fucking terrible in Halo 1, and all the guns are pretty different/worse in Halo 2 as well.

The Halo 1 AR rules! Bottomless mag! Its like the RCP-90 again.

I can't tell if you're joking, but just in case you aren't. Kotaku reported that Nintendo claimed that their Wii wasn't powerful enough to handle New Super Mario online co-op, when what was actually said was Nintendo didn't want to deal with developing the netcode.

Maybe it was just that I had it on Heroic, but it was taking multiple clips just to take down shields, much less kill things. I was running around with the Plasma pistol and the Magnum for most of the game. Charge shot to down shields, head shot to kill.

Halo 1 isn't the best running game, but Gearbox lets you lock it in at 30FPS if it's particularly bad for you.

I don't know about that, but in my opinion, Kotaku is definitely better than Gamespot. Also, I don't see their reviews as being stupid or childish, and no, I'm not talking about the Reach one. Their Spider Man Dimensions (Whatever it is) review was fine to me, and I don't see how they are actually considered bad.

I don't like the Halo 1 AR, mostly because every 6th or 7th bullet seems to be shooting in some direction almost 35 degrees off from my reticule.

Gotta love going to shoot a rocket, and it fires 90 to where you're aiming, directly into the wall to your left. That has lost me games.

Even tap-fired, the H1 AR wasn't great at range. At close/medium range, though, it was a pretty solid weapon. Huge clip and tons of ammo for it made it great at mowing down unshielded enemies. I still wish the recent ARs had the big clip, but they're also way, way more accurate which balances it out.

But for H1, pretty much the only useful weapons for Legendary are pistol with plasma pistol or pistol with needler; getting through Elite shields takes a ludicrous number of bullets so you need something which either eliminates or ignores shields. Even on Heroic, bullets lose a huge amount of their usefulness but you can still get away with using a plasma rifle instead.

The thing that makes halo reach so awesome is forge world. The things people will be able to do in a short amount of time is fantastic. I mean, Halo reach needs a map editor where the sky is the limit.

if they make halo reach- SUPER FORGE EDITION, I would pay another 60$ for it. I mean, a full geometry editor and map level design kit.

They'd have to do it on PC.

However, if they could make it as simple as Forge and with KB+M controls as well as a really simple way to get your maps onto your Bungie account, i'd buy it.

Fyre and I are plugging away (more like he's making and I'm supervising) on a pair of threads for Reach, which will be posted sometime tonight.

Thread Fyre: Singleplayer and Forging Discussion. As Reach is not officially out yet, lore stuff from 3 and the .pdf of Cortana' jorunal would continue here. Obviously, after Tuesday it's all campaign babble with smatterings of check out my Forging. Spoiler Tag usage required.

Thread Badman: Multiplayer, Including Firefight. Discussion about anything multiplayer including but not limited to Matchmaking (and its maps), Firefight Strategies, Arguing about armor and/or wepaons being over powered, Looking for Player posts.

Please limit posting in this thread so that we have ample time to get these two new threads written. We are near the 100 page limit.

Man there's like one post left before it rolls over to 100. That shit is gonna last 20 minutes.

I've only glanced at a few of the reviews so far out of fear of spoilers but a common trend I've noticed is reviewers shitting on ODST.

Did people not like it or something? I thought it was great. Maybe I'm crazy. About the only thing I could think that would have improved it was adding matchmaking to Firefight...which we get now in Reach.

You now lie at a crossroads:

To continue to speak about any Halo Lore or Campaign (even stuff PRE-Reach!), or to talk about Forge please proceed to Fyre's Thread.

Talking about weapon balance, or other Multiplayer related shenanigans? I got you covered.
