You should put a ticket in about those gloves. I think they will be able to help you out.

I already did. They came back and said that unless the other person (the one that received them) puts in a ticket as well then they're unable to do anything about it. Like I said, the other person in this situation happened to be a giant douchebag.

Why waste a ticket when you can (politely) explain the situation to his guild master ? I did that few times after some random item got ninja'd in PuGs, and it worked most of the time.
Worth a shot, really, and it's a civilized solution
I did actually get a dickbag kicked out of his guild... I believe it was the jackass DPS Shaman who won a need roll over my Resto Shaman on the healing trinket from regular ToC, which I ran I bunch of times specifically for. He wouldn't give it to me and had a real 'lol wahter u gona do bout it' attitude. So I took it up with his GL, the GL said the guy was kind of an ass anyway and didn't need much prompting. Sure enough, shortly after that, the Shaman had no guild.

Unfortunately he's in one of those egotistical neckbeard guilds. Server first types, and pretty much everybody in that guild has some sort of superiority complex. As far as I'm aware, the GL is one of the worst offenders.
I really don't understand how so many people can look up to them. Sure they've got all the best purples, but they're also all self-absorbed dicks. The problem, as near as I can tell, is that most of the high-end guilds are all like this.

Adore: Spec'd demo and blew the ever-living shit out of some dungeons with hellfire and managed to drum up a full 8 pieces of Tier 0 for my warlock in one evening! Absurdly fun times were had.
Abhore: The plan was to then upgrade it all to Tier 0.5 like my druid friend did the other week but it looks like I did the first few quests for the belt, wrists, and gloves back in Vanilla and then deleted them when something better came along. I've put in a very polite petition to see what can be done but that seems like it'll be 99% futile. I guess I should be happy with the T0 and try for T0.5 on another character, but Deathmist is easily the nicest looking.
Adore: Tanked my way to Kingslayer with my casual guild, 3 hours a week.
Adore: Since we were set for a full night of attempts on LK, and we got him down on the second attempt, we all headed off to RS immediately afterwards. Got Halion down to 33% on the first attempt, too.
So, this is awesome. You get it in a random, the red drake is terribad and you get killed on Eregos. By the time you can make it back inside the instance, if it's over and the party disbands you cannot loot a bag with the extra JP/gems/Mount.

If you get a negative answer back from your petition, I suggest you keep trying. I've had more than a couple restoration request s over the years, and half of it is in how you phrase it or how the GM feels. If I've been able to get complete character restores from more than 2 years ago I'm sure they'd be willing to replace your Deathmist pieces, so keep trying.
Abhor: Last week I went on a heroics bender with some guildies and we ended up getting a ret pally who was new to our guild in a PoS run. He just went apeshit - running ahead of the group, pulling mobs off the tank, gathering big packs and expecting me to heal him, etc.
So we get to Garfrost and the tank and I are already pretty f'ing unhappy with this guy. Guild runs are supposed to be fun and if this jerkoff acts like this in every random he goes to then it makes the guild look like a bunch of assholes. Tank pulls Garfrost, pally is still pulling aggro and assorted other shit, and then the saronite boulder gets thrown. We crowd behind it and watch as the pally stays on Garfrost the whole time. We barely manage to take him down.
Ick and Krick go down no problem, uphill battle goes fine, but I ended up dying in the gauntlet on the way to Tyrannus. They couldn't get to my body so tank tells me to release and run back. Pally whispers me 3 times as I'm running back with 'are you coming? hurry up' and the like.
Tyrannus goes down. Meters are examined. He was 4th in both DPS and damage done. Tank, who's also our co-GM and RL, says if I ever run with him again, I am to allow him to die and refuse to rez unless an officer tells me to.
I have to ask why you're even keeping that paladin in your guild if he's new and already annoying people in 5 man heroics of all places.
Highly Amused: The lowbie paladin tank my buddy and I ran RFK with last night. Or rather, started to run with. The tank states before one of the first bosses "if the helm drops, it's mine." Well my buddy and I have no tolerance for such goosery, and being a paladin, my friend rolls on it and wins. The tank flips shit and drops group after saying "I fucking hate you."
Pretty sure this guy was RAFing, because he was 2-boxing with a paladin healer, so we'd just lost our tank and healer. Whatever. Ret paladin-mage-warlock proceeded to continue the instance while waiting for a new tank/healer.
Queue pops..... same guy. "Fuck you, paladin. I hate you so much right now." He attempts to kick my buddy with the reason 'ninja' but it fails before I can even click no... and he leaves again.
We see someone decline the invitation a few times as we continue the instance.
Queue pops..... same guy. "Fuck you, paladin" and he leaves again.
This happens 4-5 times, with the LFD continuing to feed this guy back to us. We finish the instance with neither a healer nor a tank (thanks for being OP ret paladins). We left queue before the final boss because we're not letting that goose get credit for finishing on our work.
The other reason I think the guy was RAFing? I checked armory this morning, and he's 10 levels higher.
Adore: Heroic Sindy is the last chievo we need for the drake.
Got some words for that: Fuck yeah bitches.
We almost beat our LK record while just chilling and waiting for the necrotic plague to stack. That was kinda funny. All you can eat is wicked easy with the zerg strategy, you can get to 5+1 second into 6 stacks.

They should just make it so if you queue for a random you can't leave group. Especially if it is Oculus.

Ah, well, fuck those guys. I bet if he had asked, "Hey guys I'm trying to get the helm, can I have it?" it probably would've turned out differently.

Were not all bad! Honest!
Abhor: Uld 25 attendance holdng us back. Constantly having to back pedal to catch up achievements is getting really annoying, costing us valuable time on Yogg (which have yet to down). Almost wish I could make it 2 nights a week instead of one...but my other raid sched interfer.
Abhor: A guidie actually said this the other night:
"So I was killing Skoll and the Time Lost Proto Drake spawned behind me..."
It's believable, since this is the guy who had two ZG tigers drop for him in a row, his luck is that good
(In case you are wondering, no, he missed out on the TLPD, somebody else tagged it first).

Someone also standing behind him watching him kill Skoll?
To be fair though, I'm putting this down to karma since he deliberately killed Skoll to get an item off him he could link in trade chat. He enjoys the angry whispers from the other hunters.
Yeah that's how it is in most realms. The casual guilds are usually terrible and the good guilds are usually full of douchenozzles and neckbeards and just plan old socially inept guys who self-diagnosed themselves with aspergers.
Like the guy who yelled at my g/f for not doing more than 12-13k dps in ICC25 when the only people higher than her were people that were using ArP. Good job, retard. Then he brings in his warlock to show her how it's done and does 6k dps (he actually said it in vent to her). You fail.
tbf 12-13k dps on a fight like deathbringer saurfang is pretty abhorrent at this stage of the game unless you had the misfortune to be a combat rogue or something else that got horribly gimped
I'm sorry, what?
They must have changed the definition of abhorrent while I wasn't looking. I can't believe no one else called you out on this. Let me assure you. The vast majority of raiders would consider 12-13k dps to be good-verging-on-great dps on any fight. Doing more than that is the exception, not the rule.
You sure do hold some crazy elitist opinions about what constitutes a good player.
Man when I hopped on my 74 Warlock, got myself specced up. Sadly no glyphs cause I left that server with my main so he barely had enough for training. But! He don't lose mana.
Ever.
Well if I spam... not sure if it is soulfire or the other one. I'll start to go down, otherwise I'm fine.
Idn't it fun suddenly having two abilities you can spam that do fire damage?
Saurfang has just over 12 million health on 10 man regular mode. If you take the standard 10-man composition for that fight, 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 dps, and have all the dps do 12k dps, you will kill the boss in just under 3 minutes. That is not abhorrent.
24k dps is pretty ridiculous, even for a stand-still like Saurfang. I would guess that is pretty far on the outside edge of the bell curve. It also depends on how good your other dps is. If they're all rocking pretty high dps, you'll kill him in a shorter time and your dps will be higher because you spent more time in your "all my cooldowns/trinkets are popped" phase compared to the total fight time.
9k is perfectly respectable. Armory End's character and you'll see that she's decked out in what I'd imagine is close to best-in-slot for every slot. Almost every piece is ilevel 277. Even with all that she admitted right in her post that destro, much like frost DKs and a couple other specs, is basically broken in the player's favor right now.
A guildmate of mine did 8k dps in Gundrak as a level 77 frost DK. Craziness.
Edit: Not saying End's not a great player. She very likely is. She just has everything working in her favor for those numbers.
I know on fights with any sort of "wait" phase my dps drops like a rock because my dots are still ticking so mods count that as time active while other classes without dots don't get that time counted so their dps is bigger overall. That's why I use damage/healing done over DPS/HPS for evaluations.
Yeah, between the DPS inflation some people are seeing in 4.0.1, to the 30% ICC buff that inflates the difference between people that much more (like, say, 30%), to the ilvl inflation that's run a bit rampant in WotLK of late, there's an extremely broad range of DPS values being put out, I'd imagine.
The ilvl inflation is one I think people forget a fair bit. With all the complaints about 'free epics' for lvl 232 stuff, and now 251 and 264 on vendors, it's easy to forget what a big bump that can be. Jump it up even more to 277 in every slot and it's a big freakin' difference, only accentuated by the ICC buff.
