bebarce please tell me you no longer leave your kids alone with these people

Never did. We've only ever trusted them with our kids when the kids were already asleep and had them watching the video monitor. Or if there is an absolutely emergency.

It makes it difficult to get anything done though, as we don't really know anyone we can trust to babysit ever.

But yeah the things I mentioned above have occurred in a "we were in the next room over for a few minutes" thing.

We once thought it was a good idea to have the two of them babysit the kids together, so that ones stupidity would cancel out the others, only to come home and find out that they'd been arguing the entire time. And that our daughter who's sleep sac (it's a wearable blanket meant to reduce sids) was left unzipped (which becomes a strangulation hazard) because the older sister felt she needed to be able to stretch her legs more.

even after we expressly told her not to.

Should I put something on my resume that was cancelled? I'm kind of at a loss here, but I guess I should get used to it. :(

I think I will get my website running and try to finish my portfolio in the next couple weeks. I really need to find work soon or things will get rough. o_O

Of course you should put it on your resume even though it was canceled. It was work experience. You don't get a 'released title' but it was still work.

    *edit
Oh, no you don't need to mention that it was canceled. Just that you worked on it for X time.

Does anybody work in InDesign? There's a local job for a designer available...that it seems I'm completely qualified for (HTML + CSS knowledge is a plus, there's no programming experience even required)....except they state that the person must be able to handle multi-page InDesign documents.

I'm a really fast learner, and it doesn't seem like I'd be doing anything super-complex...but I don't think I've worked in InDesign before. Am I right in thinking it'll be a piece of cake, or what

If I wake up mid-sleep-cycle, I'll feel tired, even if it seems that I've slept long enough. I think that's why I can feel more awake and function well after 3 hours of sleep than after 4 or 5 hours of sleep. My sleep cycles are about 3 hours long.

You'd have no problems with InDesign, especially if you're well versed in Photoshop and Illustrator. InDesign has the same intuitive feel as those other adobe programs.

If you can't do that, just watch video tutorials. It's a lot of moving around shapes and adjusting colors and stuff (like in illustrator, but the controls and specific features are often different).

My friend was telling me about an app he has for his iPhone which uses the motion sensors in the phone to measure your movement while you sleep and figure out your sleep cycles. You just set it somewhere on the bed next to you and it's sensitive enough to pick up when you're shifting around. Once it has your sleep cycle figured out, it can be used as an alarm to wake you up at the best time closest to the time you tell it you want to wake up.
