So this is a thread for discussing those wonderful machines that make better use of our loose change than our stupid washing machines could ever hope to, and the places we go where we can find such wondrous mechanical distractions.
We can also whine about how Time Crisis IV was a complete and utter waste of everybody's time. Seriously, fuck you Terror Bite.
So SE++, what recent arcade experiences have you had that you want to talk about?
I want a pinball machine but I am still rather upset I lost the chance to buy one because someone paid for the one I wanted with a check in the ammount he wanted and ran off with it {the check was for a closed account} And I had the cash not the 450 he wanted but in the end it is his loss
Now I have tired over the years to get the machine I wanted and failed due to shipping o well
I went to band camp every summer throughout my childhood. It was held as a week long stay in the dorms at the University of Florida.
They had an old pacman machine in the lowest quarter of the building. I'd play that thing every day of that week. And all the walk across campus there was a legendary Soul Calibur machine in the bowling alley. All my money went into those two games, with a heavy favoring of pacman.
I'll try and post pictures when I get home today, but my roommate built a stand-up arcade machine that is basically just a computer and monitor hooked up to the built-in controls and has a library of over 5,000 titles, though some are repeats/foreign releases. It is by far the best thing about our garage.
This, X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were my childhood.
I loved arcades, but even the awesome, gritty, loud, sci-fi-themed "Fun and Games" arcade I used to frequent as a teenager has been transformed into a bright and colorful funland for children ages 4-10. Arcades are not profitable anymore and that's sad.
Hershey Park had an awesome one last time I was there, though.
I love arcades. The one at Hershey Park is a pretty good arcade. Some of the stuff is always broken, there are always a couple of really creepy weirdos in it, it is kind of hard to see, it has a lot of old games.
The one in the Park City Mall has a couple of shooting games, five or six racing games, and ugh ddr. It is mostly empty space though, which is terrible.
in san diego we were at this arcade and one of the rows was broken, so you could play for free
the games on it blowed, but there was one of those things where you click a button to align the lights to win a movie
we were all trying to do it, and 2 guys got avatar for free. the repairman came and kicked us out before we won anything though
I remember finding a Donkey Kong machine in a hotel we stayed at that would give you back a dollar in change for your quarter if you hit the coin return button. My parents gave my brother and I a dollar or two each to go play and we came back a couple of hours later with about $5 each.
i spent every friday and saturday evening in my local arcade playing MK1, samurai showdown and world fighters when i was 17. that time is nestled nicely between giving up on drinking on my local park where i would consistently fail to make it with any drunk girls when i was 16 and turning 18 when i could legally go to bars and fail to make it with any drunk girls :<

There was a best western on the route to Champagne, Illinois that my family and I stayed in when we went down to visit family this spring. in the lavish pool area (with a waterfall!) there was an old SNK machine with World Heroes 2 on it.

Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede.
I convinced myself that I was playing the demo sometimes because my mom would never give me quarters.
Cocktail arcade machines are classy as fuck.
I played the shit out of it, mostly as Rasputin.
thanks for havin my back dude
good to have someone manly to relate to
lets [strike]makeout[/strike] drink beer and go skeet shooting
I actually own both of these in my basement
the pacman monitor is all fucked up and won't work, and the centipede needed new rollers
I got the rollers installed and it worked for about a day before the board shorted out somehow after trying to get the coin slot to work
