I'm doing hardcore on my second playthrough.

on my first I want to be able to play without issue and learn to identify the plants and such you'll need, and learn new mechanics.

I hope there is some kind of option to meet all of the companions and be able to switch between them. Maybe hire them and have them live at your camp, or something.

I cant even run F3 right now cause i get that crash as soon as i load F3.

Hey have you tried disabling Live? I know there's a mod to do it, and just doing that one thing tends to fix lots of problems with F3 on the PC.

i think a mod download was just corrupted, I deleted all my .esps and redownloadeded and it came out good.

Getting ready to play through Fallout 3 GOTY in preparation for New Vegas. Can you guys give me some good recommendations for solid (as in not too glitchy) non-gameplay affecting mods like the one that adds more songs to GNR? I don't want to go the FOOK route or anything, just want a few minor mods to improve the world a bit for this playthrough.

After watching that dev diary, and all the other stuff that's been coming out recently, I have to say I've completely reversed my originally rather low opinion of them using the F3 engine. It's abundantly clear that doing so has allowed Obsidian to focus on creating content and polishing the whole experience far beyond what they'd have been able to do otherwise.

Useful companions outside of combat, gun mods, oodles of fan mods being rolled into the game, human-looking faces, cutscenes with better dialogue and cinematic feeling, more polished animations, throwbacks to Fallout 1 and 2, better gestures during dialogue, no singular Big Bad, reputation system, better textures, no Games for Windows Live, mutants that look like F1+2 muties, updated scripting system, ammo types, Damage Threshold, conversion ability for most F3 mods, etc, etc, etc.

Christ I cannot wait for this game.

I want to heist a casino Oceans Eleven style, then take over a different casino using bullet to head technique. Then I will run that casino Robert Deniro style with my badass side kick Joe Pesci.

Except without the whore wife who fucks the deal up cause she's a whore.

I wonder how much stuff from mods is going in? We know about hardcore mode and the gun mods. We know they are making it so you are not a god, fewer more meaningful perks.

If a game's popularity in Japan can be judged by number of little girl mods, then Fallout 3 did extremely well there.

What gets me about the aesthetics of Fallout 3 is all the shit lying everywhere and the lack of certain comfort items.

I mean I get that wastelanders don't have the resources to clear away mountains of rubble and whatnot, but they should at least pick up their trash. And where the hell are the sheets/pillows for my bed? There are no pillows left? We can't make new sheets?

It's been 300 years since the bombs fell, people. Get it together at least a little bit.

Pick up their trash? And what? Recycle it? Yeah, I'm sure they take good care of those plastic can holder things six-packs come in.

Now, whats annoying about shit everywhere, is that there is still usable shit everywhere. Its not annoying that these things are usable, its annoying that anything usable hasn't been scavenged completely in 200 years.

But thats a gameplay necessity, so who cares?

    More NV, less complaining.

I shall be sure to acquire a Sunday dress and hat, so that me and Lily can have matching outfits. Regardless of my character's gender.

Not to mention eating food out of tin cans that have sat on the shelves for 200+ years.
Or my personal favorite, finding bottle caps in random, never been opened, pre-war safes.
Adds to the fun, makes the whole thing feel more satirical, and I'd rather not go into serious questions like electricity or sewage unless we get another Master-blaster out of it.

if the tin somehow doesn't rust it would be fine, so pretend something formed a CO2 layer that gets dissipated when you open the door to wherever. Tadaaaa!
