Hello'es, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this pic, whats working, whats not, ect. Its not anything serious, but its always good to see it from a new pair of eye's.
Plus I kind of want to share, waiting for college to start and I'm feeling a little like a troll in a cave at the moment, only emerging to feast upon the local villages children.

I think you could stand to use some darker shadows. Since they are so mild it is difficult to distinguish the direction of the light source. Consider using hard-edged brushes, using soft brushes everywhere gives all objects, regardless of the substance they are made from, the same soft texture. And perhaps the linework could use a bit of editing, it looks too thick in parts. The drawing itself is pretty darn solid though. I like the catgirl's expression, that is awesome.
The piece is very fun and quirky, but the male(?) character is the background is very effeminate, particularly in the eyebrows and facial complexion (he looks like he's wearing makeup).
I didn't even realize it was a dude until Heartlash mentioned it >: Has his right thumb been cut off?
The girl also has different skin tones, which isn't completely unrealistic, but they're so different that it looks like her head was placed on a different body. Her open eye is also really wide open for someone that's winking. Unless she's had botox, then it's a different story.
The moogle is also extremely 2D looking compared to the other characters.
I can't give much advice on the lighting even though it doesn't seem even. What are those red spots floating around?
I think the drawings are great (girl looks awesome) but the colour looks like it can be pushed further. The shadows are quite soft, which isnt bad, but from the way you have applied colour, it looks like sharper and bolder shadows might work best.
If youre having trouble with colouring characters, it might be worth looking at some street fighter art for ideas
Overall - nice drawing, just gt to push those colours and shadows some more
*also, the bold black outlines seem a little inconsistant, where the background character has thicker lines than the foreground character.

The foreshortening on the catgirl seems way off- her forearm appears to be missing, its like her hand is jutting out from her elbow.

I never actually thought about that before, I did these Street fighter inspired Star Wars character pictures, and I didnt even bother to check out street fighter art ...me dumbass.
I see alot about the lineart, being a bit wonky...I can explain.
I kind of did this in sections, I didnt do all the lineart and then coloour, I did the lineart for the head and then coloured it, then line art the arms and then coloured, ect, ect.
I was going to disagree about the lineart being erraticly thick and thin, but then I had a look at the lineart without colour (as I hadnt actually seen it all as I coloured it in sections) and you guys are spot on, its all over the place.
the moogle looks flat as I added it in as an afterthought....it needed to look more Final Fantasy like, and a moogle is instant FF....just add boiling water.
In coloring it seems like you have too much blend going on and not enough straight shadow. Perhaps if you try limiting yourself to 3 shades light, medium and dark, and worked with that for a few pictures as a foundation before going in and blending youd force yourself to see the more severe shadow areas and that may help.
Nice so far. Look forward to seeing more.

It's tempting to jump straight into the coloring but doing the lineart first will save you headaches later. Shadows can be tough but I am guessing part of the reason they look a bit flat is the soft-edge brushes you are using. They have a lovely effect but if you aren't careful they tempt you to smooth everything out, and the dark colors you'd built up can get lost in that process.

Yeah I can see that.
It doesnt help that I've been looking alot at Alphonse Mucha recently. I cant bring my self to simplify colours as much as he did, so I've ended up with some kind of bastard frankensteins monster. . .thing.

and yeah, he is meant to be effeminate. . .I should have been a new romantic in the 80's.
