Pretty much any recent action movie should look sick on blu ray. I really like Star Trek and District 9 on blu ray.

I've taken to just buying everything on Blu-Ray because it's about the same price as regular DVD. Pixar movies look awesome on Blu-Ray (The Incredibles looks really good).

In addition to some of the other suggestions (Blade Runner, your favorite Pixar movies):

The Fifth Element, Band of Brothers, Moon, Children of Men, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and if you liked it, Casino Royale.

    Ghostbusters

I own one and two on regular DVD. This is a maybe.

    Scott Pilgrim

I liked the movie. I will be buying it and I own the game so it looks like I will be buying this on blu ray whenever it comes out.

    The Fifth Element

Own it on DVD. I don't like it enough to re buy it.

    Band of Brothers

Love this show. I borrowed this blu ray from a friend and it's on my wishlist. So yes.

    Moon

Never seen it. Heard good things about it. Maybe

    Children of Men

    Same as The Fifth Element.

    The Fantastic Mr. Fox

    No.

    Casino Royale.

Loved it. Is probably a maybe.

    Blade Runner

Haven't seen it. I want to. Blu ray might be a good option. I have heard there are different versions. Which is the best?

    Planet Earth

    YES.

    Star Trek

I was gonna buy this on blu ray. My girlfriend talked me out of it. Looks like I am gonna fix that.

    District 9

Yes. I don't even own the DVD so I should buy this ASAP.

    Avatar

Maybe. It looks good but I don't know.

That's right! I keep forgetting this because of the difference between my old standard TV and the new big HD TV with the Blu-Ray player.

We have Up!, Wall-E and Monsters Inc and I'm planning on getting Toy Story 1 & 2 (I've seen them in store and they look great on blu-ray). We also have Ponyo on blu-ray. But if the OP isn't into animation then it doesn't matter.

I do have X-Men (just 1 planning on getting 2 and 3) Star Trek, Live Free or Die Hard, Iron Man, Hellboy 1 & 2 and Transformers on blu-ray as well and I'm planning on getting Speed Racer and Starship Troopers. Again, I just buy blu-ray instead of regular DVD, especially since so many come with digital copies and Disney/Pixar tend to come with a standard DVD as well.

300 looks incredible (love it or hate it, it looks amazing), as does Transformers 1/2. any of the pixar movies are going to look sick. Dark Knight, obviously, especially the IMAX parts. Watchmen... uh... i'm sure there are lots more.

I really need to get Planet Earf.

Upconverted movies still look really good, even if they aren't blu ray.

I take back what I said since I forgot about Toy Story.

I am pretty sure if you buy Blade Runner on DVD, it comes with all the different cuts.

Personally, I like the Final Cut or whatever the most recent one is.

I'll second The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Kung-Fu Panda looks great as well.

EDIT: Whoops. Didn't see your "No" on Fox. I don't know, judging from your list of what you like and don't like, I don't think I can recommend anything.

I think thepain73 mostly wants to buy stuff we don't already own on DVD, since it would be rather silly for us to have the same thing twice. Though, exceptions have to be made for awesome stuff like TDK. We both like awesome animated stuff pretty well, Coraline is one of my favorite movies in fact (since I love Neil Gaiman's books). Fantastic Mr. Fox just didn't look all that great. Other animated stuff is good though. Is wall-e or UP good on blu ray? Because we haven't seen either.

That is pretty much how I feel as well, since upconversion still looks really good. Although I will say that 2 of the 5 Blu-Rays I have I already owned on DVD (but not the same cut!. Speaking of which: recommending Dark City and Kingdom of Heaven). I'll be making a few exceptions but not many.

Oh yeah, Dark City looks great on blu ray. Also another vote for Avatar.

The Fountain looks really good on blu ray, but that is definitely not a movie for everyone.

    Lies.

Up! looks pretty dang good in blu-ray. As does Wall-E.

The Dark Knight looks incredible, but it sounds awful unless you have surround. I've heard I'm not the only one that experiences this, but I could be wrong.

Maybe you should... I don't know, watch it first? The same with the Fantastic Mr. Fox.

You asked for movies that look great on Blu-Ray, not movies you've already seen and like that look good on Blu-Ray

    Perhaps give Netflix a try?

    Also, this may be relevant?

As in the picture quality, or the trailers for the movie in general? Because either way, you're wrong. Because it looks fantastic, and it's incredibly well written, directed and acted.

The movie in general just didn't seem like our kind of thing. Those of you who liked it, what was best about it? Story, characters, visuals, ect.

We saw Avatar in theaters. Not my cup of tea at all. It was pretty and all, but terrible story imo.

Everything? It's just an all around great piece of work. Did you like The Royal Tenenbaums? Rushmore? Bottle Rocket? It's the same sort of humor injected into a Roald Dahl story with amazing stop action animation.

Yeah, liking Wes Anderson movies is a requirement to enjoying it. If you don't enjoy his movies, then you'll definitely not enjoy Mr. Fox. But if you do, I'd say it's easily one of his best movies.
