Interesting game and great LP. I don't agree that it had great storywriting but it was a good read/watch regardless.

I got to the part where Rent righteously nerd raged over the Boob Tube achievement, and he is completely correct in his opinion of that TV advertisement being horribly placed and breaking immersion/not contributing shit to the story or atmosphere. It definitely could have been placed anywhere else really in the game, and not been total fail, merely pathetic. That was the worst possible place to put that prop.
Overall, Alan Wake looks pretty cool, and if it wasn't a 360 exclusive I'd buy it.

I finally got around to finishing watching this, I'd gotten way behind in foruming in general.
Endgame spoilers!
One part that either I forgot or didn't notice when I was going through, but in the dark place you can hear the typewriter when you 'flash' the words of the objects. Kinda neat.
I also had some theories about the whole message and such, I'd also gotten the impression that Alan Wake might've been made or controlled by Zane in the first place. Although one thing that came to mind is that Zane was supposedly a poet, which doesn't exactly lend itself very well to suddenly writing an entire novel to create someone else's entire life to eventually come and get rid of the darkness I suppose.
Another thing that was mentioned at the end there was that Alan Wake had to stay in the dark place because he 'killed' the Barbara persona... I had a different interpretation regarding the balance and his sacrifice... that in order to bring Alice back from the dark place, he had to stay as an equivalent. Because he if hadn't given up something equivalent, Alice would've come back like Barbara did, as a vessel for the darkness, which was Zane's mistake which Alan knew he had to avoid. The Mr. Scratch thing I *think* had to do with not breaking the timeline, though I'm not entirely sure in what way it would help.
And the last line, I'm not sure it was a comment/observation as much as it was Alan "writing" it that way, which was the impression I got based on the way he states it as he's typing and ends it with a period that flashes up on the screen. Now, to what purpose he writes it from a lake into an ocean I'm not sure... I haven't checked out The Signal yet at all, though I should sometime soon.
Oh man, that Verizon product placement AND the "can you hear me" motherfucker. I agree that it's so bad that it's hilarious.
Even in his dreams, Alan Wake is one of the more vanilla characters I've seen. It appears that his priorities are always set and never really change (like Rent said earlier, he's not a dynamic character).
