It's single player. The games about playing poker/hanging out with all of those characters with their personalities intact. There's more dialog in this game than in a Sam & Max episode, both for poker playing and for the ambient conversations that spring up and roll around the table as the game goes on.
Eh... no multi-player makes me cautious. If the dialogue is amazing then I'll pick it up, but I'm not sure how long I'll be entertained playing poker by myself.
They have an email at [email protected] .
I sent them an email about this. I as ready to fork over $20 until I saw singleplayer only. even lan would be great as I could hamachi that sucker.

It's $5, if I get two hours of entertainment out of it, that's doing better than a movie ticket. I think the table talk alone has $5 worth of potential.
I kept seeing those videos and wondered if anything like that was in the game, and I heard the answer's pretty much no. I know there are quips in-game but dang, why are there awesome videos like that with such great characters and then the game's a generic multiplayer shooter?
I don't want to play it. I want to watch a feature film of it.

Yeah, it's just weird to go through the effort of videos like that for an end product like TF2
But that Meet the Heavy video just makes me want to get this even more, really

To be fair, the Meet the Heavy video started as a tech demo for what Source can do in the facial animation department. It was the popularity of that video that launched the rest of the "Meet the Team" series.

I would say it was both that video AND the game. Once people started playing the game they wanted more back story on the characters and why RED and BLU were fighting and who is this mad announcer lady.
Most of the charm of the game comes from the characters. It's one of the only shooters I know of where dieing can actually be fun. (Kill cam shots, taunt animations, bragging dialog from the characters). It's the little extras that set the game apart from the "generic shooters".

Also I knew this was gonna turn out to be another poker game
They were all holding cards in silhouette, and there's no way you could make any other game with those dudes
I'm just sort of stunned that they did it anyway
Even for five dollars, I'll probably just watch all the funny bits on Youtube instead of actually buying it
It's a goddamn poker game. Who plays poker games? And more importantly, who among the fan-bases for these four respective characters plays poker games? I mean what the hell, Telltale
No because there are a million free ways to play on PC, or even card game collections for most systems that have 50 times the content for the same price or less.
Yes because its easier to lie when not face to face.

It's like anyone with photoshop could make those screenshots
what a shameless cash-in
That's like...App Store prices.
It could be sold for one cent and it'd still be a shameless cash-in
Because that's what it is. a shameless cash-in
Im still buying it
Also the poster is free with pre-order at PAX.

I guess it's impossible that anyone had any fun putting it together.
I never asked for this!

Now I have
they're like, 3 years old.
And I figured, "class-based shooter with no narrative whatsoever"
I wouldn't really expect voice, or even more, character, out of something like that
I don't want to play it. I want to watch a feature film of it.

So I guess you might want to watch all the TF2 videos, then
And then probably read some of the comic books that they wrote
And then maybe play the goddamn video game you silly goose

people getting so angry over a cheap little game
I just don't get it, TDOT
Don't get it at all
PSN ID : DetectiveOlivaw | TWITTER | STEAM ID | NEVER FORGET
This is pretty much the exact sort of shit gabe and tycho would've made fun of companies for doing like, five years ago
Also, that's the point, it's a cheap little game
What a waste of everyone's time involved in this project
Because, and I say this as a huge poker fan, there's no fuckin' point in buying a non-multiplayer poker game. None at all
Isn't poker one of those things you'd just rather do in person?
so mad at the mere existence of a game you aren't going to buy goddamn
Yes because its easier to lie when not face to face.
The only fake poker I've ever enjoyed was the poker in Red Dead Redemption and that was because it was all in-engine and I thought that was impressive
Also all the NPCs you played with had their own playstyles and tells, which was even more impressive
Still though. Didn't play a ton of poker in that game
Liar's Dice was where it was at

This game is voiced.
So what is Tycho going to sound like?!

Penny Arcade is pretty friendly with Telltale
So either Jerry himself is gonna do it or there's just gonna be speech bubbles for him, which all the other characters will make fun of
