I picked one of these up new at Toys R Us well into the GBC's lifespan, which was well after Sega stopped supporting it. Actually, I got it when I bought Onimusha at release for the PS2. Anyway, I found mine digging through some boxes earlier today and realized I completely missed the boat on it despite wanting one forever. I only have one game for it (Sonic 2) and don't know what is worth checking out. I have the Master System version of Sonic 1 on the Wii, which I think is pretty much the same as the GG version. I want to delve deeper into this black beasts' library, but don't know where to start. I therefore turn to you, G&T, to steer me in towards games worthy of my attention. I'm open to anything fun, genres be damned.
Did the Game Gear get a version of the Master System Mickey Mouse games? Castle / Land of Illusion?
Good news! You can buy a converter that can play all your favorite Master System games on the go with the Game Gear. It's called a Master Gear Converter.

See if you can find a Master System adapter for it. Then you will have access to that full library of games also.
Oh it's been so so long, but I remember Ninja Gaiden being pretty fun on it.
Wonder Boy and WonderBoy 3: Dragons Trap are both awesome. Oddly enough, I dont remember the 2nd one being released on Game Gear though. Cant think why.

I liked the Shinobi games. They had a Megaman-esque thing going on whereby you could choose which order you did the levels to unlock different colour ninja with different weapons.

Chessmaster taught me how to play chess. I always enjoyed it.
I second the Streets of Rage and Shinobi recommendations.
Aside from that, if you're into tactics games I'd recommend Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya and...Crystal Warriors? I believe that was the one. Good luck finding the latter though, I believe it was extremely rare even when the system was still alive.
